Well Mr P is now home from working in Sydney for 8 months. Our Skype/Text conversations since he proposed an hour before I left while visiting in Sept have mainly revolved around looking at getting married in Mar/April 2013 at Loch Lomond or Christmas 2013 in Oz.
Well now he is home he really wants to do it sooner rather than later as he thinks our plans for a future living in Oz are looking more positive and he wants to marry here before we go.
We have a 2013 date held provisionally for a venue we like but cant get to visit till just before Christmas but this morning Mr P called up the venue to see if they have any dates for Mar/Apr 2012 and they will be calling back Saturday when the Wedding Coordinator is back so we can get an idea of whats available. He wants to take the risk and pay our deposit which will be £1000 given dates so close.
Are we completely mad??
I have nothing in apart from a few ideas for bouquets but the good thing im thinking is that by bringing it forward we will less likely spend more than we wanted to as the funds wont be available.
Anyway else managed to get things together in this time frame or booked venue without having been there??

It's more than possible! The first time I got married, I had the whole thing organised in 8 days, and then had to sit and wait for a number of months. There were a few suppliers who weren't available on our chosen date, but we weren't terribly bothered...
The only thing is, given the timescale, you'd ideally need to have a dress in mind, as they can take up to six months, and rush orders still take about 12 weeks! Or you could be like me and get something off the peg!
CommentAuthorjennywren
If your organised enough why not go for it.
Like hubby to be said you could be less likely to spend more (lord only knows how much I've spent on things that won't be used)
The most important factor in all this is how you feel.

no you can do it! I'm doing it in 5 months as long as you are decisive about things there's no reason why you can't do it in april! :)
I must be crazy giving myself only 6 months!
Engaged 17th Octobr 2011
Wedding 21st April 2012
It's absolutely possible. My step sister organised everything in two weeks for her wedding. She had 4 bridesmaids and one page boy, a nice dress (that she borrowed), a wedding car, and the reception was at the golf club with a hot buffet as the main meal, and a cold one for the evening do. She bought a very plain cake and borrowed the decorations from a friend who'd got married, and the night before she went to Tesco and picked out some nail varnish and did her own nails. A friend took the photos and another friend did her hair, she did her own makeup.
It was a lovely day and everyone looked the part. A lot of it is probably not what you're really looking for, but just think what you can do in 5 months, if she could pull this off in 2 weeks. Go for it! :)

I am getting married in May - April was plannedbut venue couldn't do it. I am plannung to handmake the whole wedding and have started a little bit.
For me it's no problem but I have a ver very clear vision in mind, it's only a matter of tracking things down on a budget.
It’s so great to find that one special person
you want to annoy for the rest of your life....

Going to have to get in gear I guess - Ive warned Mr P (who is usually so laid back he is horizontal) that if he wants to do it this way then he best get his backside in motion and if he dares ummmm and ahhhh when I need a decision he will be in big trouble!
Ive spent the past 8 weeks or so brushing everybody off when they have asked where and when so most people are going to be in for a big surprise when an invite drops on their doormat in a few weeks.
Hardest part is going to be the fact that we are in Essex whilst we are "hopefully" marrying at Loch Lomond and although we are in Glasgow for a week at Christmas its going to be tricky organising everything and even squeezing in another trip between Dec and Mar/Apr with work and school etc!
ha ha guess it serves me right for saying on facebook the other night that I needed a new project now Mr P was home and boys birthday was over and Xmas shopping was nearly done

it is easily do able. I got married first time round my ex was military so we had to fit in when he was home. He went to iraq came home 3 months later for the wedding and in all honesty on the day of the wedding he had no idea what was happening or what to expect. But was done in 3 and half months. The only thing i had prob with was dress as was limited on choice. But with 5 months you will have plenty of time
Going to become Mrs Stockman
Got engaged on 26th April 2011
Getting married 19th May 2012

We are likely to have 70 or so adults and then about 12-15 children so likely to be using Conservatory for Ceremony (Walled Gardens if we wake up to a nice day) and then the Clairinch for Wedding Breakfast and Reception but will decide when we go up in December. Not sure if we will travel too far for photos as we are probably going to give transport a miss - all our guests will be travelling to the wedding so most will be at the hotel at least the night before and the night of the wedding. No doubt we will end up going down to the loch for a few pics though (if I can find a photographer that doesnt cost a fortune)
Our colours are Charcoal/Slate, Dark Navy Blue and White and our theme features lots of buttons :-D
Have you saw the pic off the black sparkly dance floor that someone hired for a wedding at Buchanan?? Im in love lol!!
Hows your planning coming on?

YAY, you go girl! It seems like you've organised pretty much everything in just a couple of days. It will all fall together nicely - I'm sure. Good on you for rising to the challenge :)
CommentAuthorRockabilly chick
Yes, that dance floor looks amazing! Our budget is quite small though, plus the dance floor in the orchid suite is teeny so we wouldnt have room for that :-(
We are doing the same for the ceremony - I am really hoping for the sun so we can use the walled garden. My planning is coming on well, got my dress from china about a week ago and its dead exciting! I am putting off anymore planning untill after christmas now. Ive got most of the important stuff done, so gunna relax and get on with organising my xmas hampers and pressies now :-)
Ohhh I'm so excited for you! Its such a great feeling when the venue is finally booked. If you need any ideas for folk in the area let me know. Our cake lady is from Balloch and she is quite reasonable :-)
