Haha. What a pain in the ass! The stupid thing is they all want your original marraige certificate. Could take years for me to do this! X

Hi Mrs T, last time I got married I tackled what I saw as the important ones first like employer, bank, docs, dentist, council tax, DVLA. then I just changed others as any renewals came up or as I remembered about them lol. I never did get around to changing name on my passport tho! (I'd only just renewed it 4months before I married the ex). Don't know if that helps xx
CommentAuthorMrs T. 2 Be
Thank you!
I think that is what I have decided to do so at least I know I am going a logical way around it lol! From the important ones all I have left to do is Mortgage (inc insurances) & Council. Have sent off for the DVLA forms too. I wont be changing my passport for a little while as I still have a good 8 years left on it!

Out of curiosity, how soon should you change your passport? my OH and I won't be going on honeymoon until 2 months after wedding, could I still use my original as it wont be up for renewal?
Edit: Ah just checked it and turns out it expires 1 month before wedding. Well, that convenient then ain't it? :D

Blimey, that's a long list! H2B seems to think that, as my name is first on the deeds for our house, my name will need to be changed on there aswell? But I guess that would come under land registry.
By the time I've got through that lot we'll have been married for years! :o)
CommentAuthorInDreamland
Victoria, the name in the passport needs to be the same as the name you book your honeymoon in, so if it's booked in your maiden name you need to renew your passport in your maiden name.
If you book in your married name then you will need to get the registry office to give you a form or letter to say you will be married on x date and x will be your new surname so you can apply for your new passport in your married name before the wedding xx

I hate the idea of putting our only original copy of our marriage certificate in the post. Is there no way around it, like having multiple copies?
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.
CommentAuthorJennK
I was told we can pay to have extra copies, it was something silly like £4 each if we request before the ceremony, but afterwards is a tenner each.

You have insurance companies and magazine subscriptions on the list twice
I've just copied and pasted the list and removed what's not relevant to me and it's not half as scary once doing that.
It doesn't really answer my question of when to let people know, I think I might inform some a month or so before and they can let me know whether or not I need to get back in touch after the wedding. Things like work it would make sense for me to make sure they know before so they can be prepared in September when we come back.

After 2 years my passport is still in my maiden name. It doesn't expire until next year so I have another year before I change it. We'll be married 3 years before I change it.

Most of mind haven't needed a marriage certificate. The only ones needing originals so far have been passport, driving licence, bank and credit card. Everyone else has needed nothing at all or just a copy xx

CommentAuthorNicolaB7220
Yes definitely. Paypal is a bit of a pain though as they want a scanned marriage certificate and scanned photo ID so need to wait for either passport or driving licence to come back to be able to do that one.
CommentAuthorMrsEmmaP
I'm waiting for that too Nicola, got a scanned copy of certificate but no id until driving license comes back!
