I'm really stuck with finding a hairdresser and make-up artist, there so many out there!!! My mums my hairdresser and obviously she won't be doing it on wedding day so not sure if I should ask her hairdresser or just find someone who advertises and do I use sow one who does both hair and make up or separate ones?? Too many choices and find myself ignoring the subject so I don't have to deal with the decision :(

Seriously having a struggle on this one too as I've hated all the hairdressers near me and still go home to Lincoln to use the one I had there! I'm asking round friends and family to see if they know anyone local that may be able to do it. MIL knows a girl that does makeup so she's thinking of organising a makeup party so I can see what I think. Recommendations and trials are the best bet I think x

For me personally a friend from work is doing my hair as she is a trained hairdresser and cuts my hair regularly. For makeup I had to do a bit of research because I suffer from eczema and needed someone who is experienced and could show me examples of working with brides with skin issues like this. Paid for a trial with one makeup artist who did my makeup perfectly using airbrush foundation which worked really well on my skin and makeup stayed on ALL DAY (make up was applied at 11am and I went to an Ann Summers party that same evening)

I would definetly encourage going to trials and book them for the morning if you can to see how the makeup lasts. Take pictures as well as you may find though you might not like it or be sure when its first on as it's a change from your normal look but may find that later in the day... you actually really like it.

I'm struggling with this! There is a lady who has done my hair before who I love, and she does amazing make-up but she is THE most expensive in the area. So we went to wedding shows and figured we would have a look around. Now my problem is that there's far too many to choose from! I have my preferences, but I don't know whether to go for someone who does the whole package, or get two different people. I think deep down I know I want one person doing hair (and know who) and one person doing makeup (and know who) but I just can't bring myself to get them booked in! xx

@Myranny I know what you're talking about. Took me a while to sort out my makeup artist and there was no good reason other than I was just putting it off. I would say just bite the bullet and get it out of the way. That being said you still have over a year to go and I only booked my makeup artist on Wednesday this week with 5 months to go lol

I'm booking just about everything now, super early I know, but it helps us to know exactly what we're paying out as the bottom line (I'm pretty sad as well, I love being organised... I even have a spreadsheet!) Lol. It's killing me telling myself I won't be looking at dresses for at last another 4 months, but I've started a workout routine telling myself if I have to reach x goal before I can do it. Hehe. x

@Myranny Thats not sad at all! We started booking everything after we got engaged in Jun 2013 and had the big things all booked within 8 months. I started off a spreadsheet which I thought was all super organised then my OH with his tech savvy ways did something to it and now it can calculate forcasted savings/costs and balance the budget. How the heck he did that I haven't a clue!

I would definately say take your time with the dress. I technically now have 3. The first I got as an impulse I bought over a year before we even got engaged and when I went back last June to see it... I hated it thankfully it was only £250 :( I now have a brand new dress and also a simple back up dress which only cost me £60 should any unfortunate accidents happen with my wedding dress in the evening.

Do you have to pay for trials? I think I need to research the make up abit more and see what's out there but from looks of it airbrushing is the 'thing' to go for. X

I know the makeup artists I looked at I had to pay for trials but it was worth it to get an idea of what was out there so I would advise budgeting for that. Some artists include trails in their cost which is why they may appear more expensive but may actually not be.

I found mine on G00gle. Checked out her reviews and Facebook page and booked her. You have a trial so if you're not keen, you can always find somebody else.
