Hello all, wondering if you can help :)
I have 3 best friends but can't have them all as bridesmaids as have quite a few sisters and it would be a bit too much! So I'm having one friend as a bridesmaid but to involve the other 2, I would quite like them to do a reading. What I want to know is who picks the reading? Do I tell them what I want them to say or do I let them choose what they want?
    Thank you! :) x

Ask them which they would prefer. We are having two readings, one we picked and the other our reader gave us a shortlist of things he would like to read and we picked the one we liked best :)

I'd let them go off and choose something but ask them to run it by you first. I think it's nice to give them the responsibility as they can choose something that really comes from the heart xx

I like the idea of giving them responsibility, which is why I wanted to give them readings in the first place so they wasn't too miffed about not being bridesmaids. But I suppose if I get them to choose the readings, they will actually have something to do rather than just standing up and reading something I have chosen.
    Thank you! :) x

You might want to check eith whoever is doing your service as well. As ours is in a church, we have to have at least one reading from the bible. X

Ah I hadn't thought of that. We aren't having a church/ religious wedding so can't see that being an issue but I will definitely double-check. So many little things to think about! Thank you :) x

We got a wedding pack from our registry office which gives information about readings and how many you can pick etc etc. xx

I would ask them to pick them. But ask that they run it by you first to make sure you like it. That way its really personal.

Yeah I think that's what I'll end up doing. I trust them both but I want to make sure the readings kind of fit in with the rest of the day. Plus I'm a right grump, I don't like anything that's too jokey/funny. The odd laugh and cute funny is okay, but I can't stand the cliché humour stuff that you find in cards! I prefer something that's meaningful :) x
