I'm not a fan of hen parties, I've been to a few before and I've backed out of others cos I don't particularly like them. Don't get me wrong I'm not a party pooper lol but there's just some things about hen parties that makes me feel uncomfortable.
1) I found most of the ones I've been to "trashy", why is it hens have to flirt like mad on a hen do? The last one I went to this girl was getting married two weeks later and we found her in the corner of the room locking lips with some guy who had started to pull down her knickers (no joke). 2) yes it's the brides party, but do we really have to go somewhere expensive, doesn't she know we've already shelled out enough money on her wedding present and our wedding outfits etc? Come on I thought we were pals and pals should realise that some of us don't earn as much as others and we have other commitments. 3) These days its costumes, yes they are funny and sexy and all but I really don't feel comfortable wearing a French maid or a playboy bunny outfit and we are forced into wearing them a lot of the time.
And lastly 4) At the time of going to a lot of these hen dos I've been single, or I've been with a guy who has no intentions of popping the question and I found the upcoming wedding hard enough to deal with as a single girl without having to go through the hen party too. Ok so now I do sound like a real party pooper I just hope I'm not alone in feeling this way about these things! So I'm not having a hen party, but I know my mother will definitely throw a surprise one for me closer to the time. I'm already contemplating telling her no surprise hen party! I guess my biggest hate of the whole thing is the stripper. I really don't want a bloody stripper and I'm no prude but I'm not joking if they got me one I would flip. I don't disagree with strippers, in fact I have been to strip clubs, my problem is being trailed up in front of family and friends and doing all that stuff, no thanks! I really wouldn't comply with him at all.
My fiancé is free to have a stag do if he wants I don't care but hen parties no thanks. I know hen parties don't have to be like that but I'll be home before my wedding and I just know my mother will sneak one in somehow :-( and she will sneak a stripper in too and the blow up dolls and the works :-(

I nearly didn't have one - Im not into the whole going and getting p!ssed or the whole Im a bride thing.
I arranged a meal out with some friends then went into town afterwards and I have to say, I did enjoy it when my friends bought me a sash and veil :o)
I really did marry my Mr Wright and we had a nice day for a

I don't mind a sash and veil I just hate the typical trashyness of the typical hen do, and I gave up alcohol back in April and I've no intentions of drinking again as I was way too heavy and cut out alcohol due to a diet, but now that I'm pregnant I've decided I don't want to start drinking again and yes hens go out and get trollied and I've had enough of getting trollied lol so that's another thing!
Yeah maybe I could talk my mum into taking us girls out for a meal instead and telling her no funny business.

Didn't have one first time won't be having be this time either. They just don't appeal to me. Lucky for me H2B feels the same so instead we'll go on a date, no kids, just the two of us.

Well I have not really put any thought into it until recently. I am approaching my wedding date head on and I really dont know if I will organise one in time. I didnt want anything to much like a hen party anyway, just a spa day and a meal and a few drinks. But as I get married in March and its christmas soon I doubt people will be able to afford it. Many of my friends will be very pregnant by the time my wedding gets nearer so cant expect them to do loads. Might just organise something for a few friends. A meal out etc and might use the money I would have used to treat h2b to a night away. He on the other hand is having a 4 day alcohol fulled break in spain. x x

Not really thought about it but they don't appeal to me either. I have 3 girls living abroad so getting them together for an extra day will be a nightmare. I don't want to invite anyone who is not coming to the wedding and at the moment I have fallen out (well I have with her) a close friend big style. I would rather have a spa day or something x
Soon to be Mrs C on 15th June 2013!

You don't have to have the "trashy" hen do.
Mine will be a nice affair, dinner and some drinks (for those who want to drink - I'm tee total so fruit juice and diet coke for me) followed by some dancing wherever my sister and best mate find to go clubbing on a Friday night followed by a spa weekend for those who want to come and can afford it.
My sister has made it clear people should not feel obliged to come to the whole weekend and we understand everyone has different budgets so will break up the weekend into different "components" so people can choose what bits they come to to work around them and their budget.
I did the same for my sister's hen and her friends really appeciated the options too.
No strippers or anything that would be deemed "trashy".
I went to another nice hen party which was a belly dancing class (just us ladies) followed by a meal out, nice an civilised and no funny business and it was really affordable as the meal worked out at just £15 per head and the belly dancing class was £12 per head.
I like the idea of organising a nice meal out that is affordable with the girls, that way you can have it the way you're happy with and make it clear what you don't want so there are no nasty surprises. x

I am looking forward to having a hen do. I think a big part of it is the fact that having my birthday in the beginning of Jan I have never had a big night out for me. I would hate to have a stripper though!!!!'

I told my best mate and my sister in law today that I was not going to bother as not fair on people cost an all as getting married a moth after christmas. Plus a normal run of the mill hen party just aint my thing at all for the same reasons as you.
I was told by both of them that it was up to me but they were planning on taking me to a spa for the day and staying in a hotel over night with a dirty dancing theame night (kinda like a stage show thing ) and a meal. Sounds fab to me .
But when we will fit it in god only knows lol

i'm not into 'hen dos' as such because it's not really my thing going out with a bunch of girlfriends to get stupidly drunk either. i'm thinking maybe talk to my moh and go on a spa day or maybe to a musical or something. something chilled is good with me. or i've always fancied white water rafting... :P x

i dont want a typical hen do either i would have liked to go have a weekend on a beach somewhere warm (majorca originally) but it sooo expensive! so that went out the window! am hoping that the weather will be good for august and we can maybe sit on our beach for a bit lol. in all seriousness though am thinking maybe a nice meal somewhere and then a couple of drinks after but im not into late nights and partying hard! i like to be able to chat! xx
and strippers!!!! Dont get me started! i hate the idea of a stripper! i dont like being centre of attention so the wedding day gonna be awkward enough but strippers!! embarrassing!!
if you really dont want one though just sit your mum down and tel herr that you dont want one simple as that xx
i cannot wait to marry my best friend

Krazykitty she won't listen, the word listen isn't in her vocabulary no word of a lie. When I see the word matriarch that's my mother to a "t" lol. I'm thinking I'm going to have to organise my own do and not tell her where we are going until we get there. I had that idea this morning and I love it very much lol. No sense not bringing her because if I don't bring her she will go ahead with some surprise party as she did the same thing on my sister inlaw.
Apart from my first birthday, 18th birthday and 21st birthday there's never been any other party solely about me either and as two out of three of those were complete disasters I'm not exactly looking forward to having this hen party. I think it would be ok if my mother didnt always involve herself in every brides hen do. She even once invited herself to her friend's daughters hen weekend. She's always centre of attention too and I know for a fact that at my hen party all the embarrassing photos, videos and stories will surface as she loves nothing more than a good "this is your life" scenario. At my sister inlaws "surprise" hen do she told everyone to bring a gift, but not a clean gift, the dirtier the better was the way she put it. There was books about sexual positions, pictures of naked men, blow up dolls, and an automaton bed with two dolls on it who went at it when they were wound up and all sorts of other crap.
