    Hi Girls,

I'm off shopping today to have a look at BM dresses with my BM (who is my sister) and my mum. I have completely different tastes to both of them and I am a bit worried that the dresses that are looked at will be hideous (in my opinion)! I always thought that I'd be happy enough letting my BM choose her own dress, but she has been sending me pics of what she likes, and I really dont like! Feel like I'm turning into a bridezilla!!! lol!

Just wondering if you ladies picked the BM dresses yourself or did you let your BM choose? What is the norm?

    Thanks
    Sarah

I think something that you both like would be the best. Im sure you all can find a common ground.

    Good luck x

    Depends on who is buying.

If you are buying, you get final say but you should maybe consider her opinion as she's the one who has to wear it and she will look much better on the day if she is comfortable and confident in her dress than if she is in something she really doesn't like!

If she is paying though, you should only veto ones you really don't like.

We're still considering moving the date forward so looking to get an idea of costs to see if its a viable option, so hopefully it wont be too early! lol !

I think it will prob take a while to find a dress we both like but that is prob the best thing to do, at least then we will both be happy! xx

I'm letting my BMs pick I have one adult bridesmaid which is my sil2b and 4 little ones three are nieces2b and ones my daughter. The parents of the little ones are buying so ive just said as long as its lilac two of them are sisters so have said i want them having different dresses as I dont want the third to be feeling like the odd one out. And Adams sister is also paying for hers she said I can pick but Ive told her no as I dont have to wear it so want it to be something she likes and will be comfy in... at the end of the day most eyes will be on the bride and groom anyway so to me it doesnt really matter xx

I let my BMs pick simply because I didn't want them to be wearing something that they might be uncomfortable in.....as it turned out. I loved them anyway!! x

my 2 bm's and myself both chose the dresses as i am paying for them so obviously wanted some say but i want them to like their dresses as they have to be comfortable and wear them all day. luckily my bridesmaids have similar tastes to me so it was quite an easy job. xx

I chose a few dresses I liked then mailed the seven girls and asked what they preferred thankfully it was five to one dress and two liked another dress so we went with the one that the most liked! ;) x x

At this point in time, I've picked what I like, If my BM's really complain about them then I'll be happy to look for a different alternative but I'll be surprised if they hate them cause they're pretty simple. They'll have to suck it up if they don't like the shorter length though because I'm not getting them floor length dresses that I'm going to have to pay to be altered. Shorter ones are a safer option! I'll probably be paying for them cause I can't see my BM's being happy about paying for a dress I want them to wear at my wedding and that they're likely not to wear again in future. Probably won't be buying shoes and accessories for them though, they have free choice in that dept lol.

i got ma moh to have a look on the net for me to see what she liked while at the same time i was secretly checking out what i like and tbh i had a few that was the same as she picked. so we chose the favourite and went to check the shop in town. lucky they had that range and weve chose the dresses just waiting on mil2b to pay the deposits and they will be ordered. ive asked them to get their own accessories which is giving my sis the chance to wear her wedding shoes again and my other bm needs to have a special splint made so no issues there. only issue is fg. which we will sort out next year. shes 2 just now but growing so fast,

    xx

I'd given my bms the choice and they ended up picking a dress I'd previously spotted and loved so happy days! We have similar taste anyway so it was unlikely they'd pick something I wouldnt like. They had said they'd wear whatever I wanted them to though... a bit of compromise always makes it easier. I'm paying for the dresses but I'd hate for them to be uncomfortable x

i have said what colour i want them to be in and what type of material but im flexible on the style and shape as they r 2 totally different body shapes so what might suit one would not suit the other, i like dresses that r either the same colour and different style or the same style but in different colours! it shows a bit of the bridesmaids personality aswell and makes it look a bit more relaxed and fun i think! x

I took my girls our shopping for a day, they tried on about 15 dresses each, some they liked I liked, some they liked I didn't! I ended up picking the dresses, and ordering them, they only saw them when they arrived, they loved them, and they were much nicer than any they had tried.
I did however get a dress that I knew would be flattering on all of them, and taking into account the areas of thier bodies they had issues with I chose wisely :)

We've agreed on a colour and a rough sort of style, but the BM is finding a dressmaker as she lives overseas and will discuss the final style with the seamstress to find the most flattering style for her figure etc, then she's going to send me a swatch of the material so I can tie it in with everything else - she's seen pics of my dress though so here's hoping it's all going to come together! I'm giving her the money for her outfit too x

I went a picked a dress and bought it :) I have 4 B/M dresses hanging on the back of the bedroom door waiting to go :D They had no input but they all liked them and they fit so no need for costly alterations :D And I plan to sell them on the Bay afterwards so its win win
