    Hi there.

I've had a look at other threads and general consensus seems to be either that brides are doing the dressing themselves or with help from family members beforehand if they are not hiring a venue designer.

However, we are looking to get married in a marquee at the Tea Pavilion in Greenwich Park which is very open until the pavilion shuts at 4.30pm. Although we are having a later wedding, we have been told not to leave the marquee unattended when it has been dressed due to the fact that the public could easily just wander in and swipe things.

I'm going to be handling the buying and making of the decorations myself - hand-made bunting, chutney favours etc - so I don't want to hire a designer or anything like that. All I want is someone to set the room up for me to my spec and oversee the marquee until the wedding party arrives. Which means I can't delegate it to someone who is attending the wedding.

Does anybody know of a reliable service like this? Just someone to run for me on the day and work to a photo table plan?

    Thanks,

    Mel.

Not sure. I thought they were more organisational rather than hands-on if you know what I mean. Do you think I could get in touch with maybe the interior design faculty of a local university or something and see if there is anybody there who would be willing to do it for a fee? I can't really find the service I'm after on t'interweb! :)

Maybe go into the careers office of a uni, they normally have jobs up that students apply for, otherwise could you offer the venue to pay a member of their staff?

You'd think there would be a service like that wouldn't you? Maybe I'll start my own! Big Day Gopher or something haha!

I'm a designer so can do my own business cards. Speaking of which, before I start another post or spend yonks searching, have you come across any ideas on here from others who have designed their own bespoke stationery and then want to get it printed with custom cutouts etc? x

When I had my 30th birthday party we had to leave the party set up at the risk of public entering. We spoke to the manager of the doormen (bouncers) company and he let us privately employ one of his men. The thing is (God forbid) if people did need restraining from trashing the set up and kept out etc the doormen have the public liability and the law on their side to restrain them.

In term of setting up I think the university idea is a good one x

I've booked a lady who is dressing my chairs and also the tables as an inclusive package, sometimes it pays to shop around. I'm saving over £50 per table by hiring the items for £10 per table x

My venue is setting everything up for us, haven't paid them to do it I suppose it's just included in the hire price. All I have to do is take everything there the day before
