I had a makeup trial at the 3enefit counter in town and absolutely loved how the girl made me look, she wrote down everything she did and the products she used. I have added it all up and it's going to cost me about £200 to buy it all. I have also looked at Number seven products and for basically the same items it will cost me about £70.

Obviously I want to look the best I possibly can on my wedding day but is it really worth spending that much money and are the 3enefit products so much better that I can justify spending almost 3x more?

I use ben efit every day and I love it. Yes it is expensive but it does last all day and night. I can't comment on the other products as I don't use them.

I think my make up artist is using Mac. Have you had a look to see if its cheaper getting a make up artist instead as mine is charging me £40 for me.

Personally, I'd worry that no 7, whilst fine as a day to day makeup, won't be as good for photos or as long lasting.

I think my makeup cost me about the same, however it is good quality and I will use it before it goes out of date(hopefully!)

If you don't wear makeup, it will probably be cheaper to get someone in to do it. I didn't because I really didn't want too many people running around on the morning of the wedding xx

I do wear makeup but not every day, so it will get used again, eventually!

I have decided to do my own wedding make up with the help of my sister as I worry about not looking like me if sosmebody else does it. My sister is cabin crew so she always uses top brand make up as she needs to look good, with make up that lasts.

I think I will probably end up going for the premium brand, but possibly buy it over a period of time instead of being hit with a massive cost all at once. I'll also see what I can borrow from my sister maybe to cut down the cost a bit more

I bought my wedding make up yesterday at @oots i bought a lovely pallete of £enifit make up it only cost £26 for primer foundation concealer and powder they come in a lovely box and are all miniture in size however they would last a good while if you only use them for special occasions, the full size primer alone cost's that. i bought these as a good base then i bought some lovely real @echniques brushes and a sponge they cost about £30, the rest are just regular things but the total came to less than a hundred pounds and i will be able to use them time and again. My daughter did my trial last night and she brought me to tears she made me look so lovely! pics on my profile although it does make my face look paler than my chest it didn't in real life we were in artificial lighting at night so wasn't ideal! my skin looked flawless and i have to say that's no mean feat lol x

Looks lovely Janet, all fresh faced and beautifully natural. That's exactly the kind of look I want too, maybe I'll look out for the miniature sizes xx

I wear make up everyday and use benefit and Lancôme. Although I use them I'm getting a friend who is a make up artist in because I know that on the day I will end up doing it wrong and i'll get stressed that nothing is going right. Because the make up lady is a friend i won't be afraid to tell her if I don't like it and knows what I want. She'll also be at the wedding, with the hairdresser who's also a friend, for touch ups if its needed :)

If you don't wear make up much then it's quite a cost that you might not get benefit from. A decent make up artist will do your make up how you want. I am going for a natural look and it only costing £50 and that's airbrushing x

Id definitely keep an eye out for the mini sets, they are just fantastic and last all day and night. Id keep an eye out on online auction sites too, their are some great stores on there where you can get the make up which is all brand new and at a fraction of the price x

It's definitely a situation of buyer beware on the auction sites. A lot of the items on there are counterfeit. Benefit is a very popular counterfeit item - I've seen them on auction sites and car boots.

Remember...its your wedding day and you could end up spending nearish that amount on a pro to do it... but the benefit, scuse the pun of you buying your preferred products, could be that you have them to use after for your honeymoon etc... and have them available for touch ups during the day. b00ts often do 3 for 2 so maybe hold off before buying them at the mo?

I use which ever you feel is best; maybe it would be better paying more for something that you know will definitely last the whole day and night but if you don't mind re-applying then go for numb$r 7 products. I added a poll for you to help you decide. :)

Thanks guys, really appreciate the feedback, after talking to my sister and reading all your comments I have decided to go with the premium brand, luckily for me my sister has some of the products I need so that is a big help, she also has a Cl@rins foundation which she swears by, she said she will try it out on me in the next couple of weeks and we can see how it looks and feels on my skin.

I think now that the cheaper products as people have said may not give the finish I want, may not last the day and my not give me the best look on the photo's.

Thanks again to you all, this is why I this site
