When we return to the UK we are now having a blessing but I was just wondering if a Renewal of Vows would be better, meaning longer & more like a real wedding for the family!
Any ideas/experiences ladies?? Thanks x

Our blessing lasted for about 45 mins. I guess it depends on who does it and what you have in it. A friend of ours did our blessing (so she had plenty to say LOL!) and we also had a handfasting ceremony that she did. Don't forget to allow for the photos too - they take a good amount of time too. x

I know it will be a good day & we will party after... I just read somewhere their ceremony only lasted 5-10minutes which I thought was abit pants to be honest for my family x

Hmm i think it would be nice to renew your vows! as like you said it would be nice for the familey x

My ACTUAL wedding only lasted 9 mins LOL! I think that's why the blessing felt a bit more like the proper wedding. x

I guess if we did a renewal of vows that would mean if we wanted to in 10years time it would be silly twice so doing a blessing leaves this open in years to come x

I thought a blessing was just a blessing of your marriage & rings and a renewal of vows was doing the marriage vows all over again! not 100% sure x

Hax3 I not actually sure but think a blessing is your marriage being blessed in a religious ceremony when you haven't married in a church and a renewal of vows is renewing the promises you made when you married - could be totally wrong though.

When we booked our local church (CofE) for next years blessing/renewal of vows we were told that they no longer do blessings/renewal of vows as seperate ceremonies but as a single ceremony under the title of 'Thanksgiving for marriage' I have looked on their official website and I really like the format of the ceremony. Not sure if you are marrying in CofE but it might be worth having a look at their website. xxx

Blessings don't have to be religious. Ours wasn't. It was pagan based (not that we're pagan either LOL!) but that was because of the handfasting ceremony, but not religious in any way. Just full of love.

Yes we will be marrying in a CofE church.. thankyou but i still dont understand it lol if their different i would rather have the 'renewal of vows' if we get to say our vows again & it would be different from cyprus too & nicer i think for my family & friends

On my next day off I'm guna phone a church and find out the exact difference and difference in prices too
