After numerous post on here about candy buffets I've had a change of heart

Originally I was planning an unlimited ice cream stall for my guests, but now I like candy buffet also

So what's better if you were a guest at my wedding

I think an ice-cream cart is quite unique and quirky, whereas candy buffets are becoming more and more common. Not that that makes them any less fantastic, but I like your icecream idea more I think.

I like the idea of both, but at least if you have a candy buffet people could take a little bag home with them. Also I'm not sure how well booze and icecream mix

Candy buffet works out cheaper....wedding planner does them so would just be wholesale price of sweets and she would do sweetie trees also....she has all the jars and vases already ( the joys of a planner)

H2b fav food is ice cream.... I hate the stuff...... But he likes pick a mix occasionally and I love it .....

The ice cream cart was a surprise for him but now I remember he likes sweets I am sooooo torn

Ice cream cart has to go outside ( venues rules) what if it rains

Could you not speak to your venue and ask if you could have icecream and cones as a sweet at your evening reception? We wanted an icecream tricycle but can't believe the prices they charge. I know it's not going to look as good but you could always find out if anyone you know, knows anyone who has an icream van who is willing to just charge for what is sold? It could be a cheesy little suprise for your h2b. I actually asked friends and family on book of face

it would have to be one or the other ... due to the cost the cart is £500 and a sweet buffet prob £200 for the sweets i just cant justify both ... :(

Corc, personally I'd go for the candy buffet.. as much as I love ice cream, I know LOTS of people who don't and I think it could be a bit touch and go where as sweets, well most people like them and if you like a mix of stuff there's bound to be something everyone likes. The candy buffet will be much cheaper too and not as messy as ice cream x

see i hate ice cream with a passion but its h2b favourite food ever.... i make it just for him!! thats why i was origionally going to do an ice cream cart!.... ill have one in a blue moon but thats about it i prefer ice lollys lol

guess i could do ivory/white/gold sweets to keep in with the colour theme and vintageness of my reception as the ice cream cart was a vintage one...

the flowers on my centre pieces are really realistic lisa... not gonna lie i think off the top of my head were £20 each ex vat (i didnt pay vat cos of my planner)... im a reallly fussy cow and i didnt want fake flowers as i thought they would look awful ... but these are so realiistic and the only reason you can tell is because they dont smell... they are even more stunning in real life.... i think i will have 10 or 12 of them (there on order at the mo) and ill be putting them on ebay after the wedding ;o)

I agree with the "pizza hut" style idea.

Basically they have the ice-cream machine, you fill up your bowl then chuck smarties, dolly mixture (you get the idea) and diff flavoured sauces on top... best of both worlds... mmmmmm

Right I've decided to go for a candy buffet in ivory/White and gold coloured sweets!!

With lace and diamante tags hanging off the jars

A poem to say tuck in

And a cake stand of macaroons in vanilla and cream...

    And some sweetie tress too....

Thanks for all your help xx

I think you made the right choice as after all who will really go outside (in the rain) just to eat ice cream? The only time that it will get used is if you have a super hot day etc. Also any left overs from the candy bar can be taken home and guests can take them home too but they can't take a bowl of ice cream with them.

I think candy buffet only because people can pick all night - with ice cream people are likely to have one bowl and then forget about it.

With candy buffet they can take some home and it will be so much fun!

Exactly ... Who eats more than 1 ice cream.....plus with candy I can take a big bag with me and eat it on the plane hehe .... I'll just have to buy h2b some ice cream on holiday to make up for it....

I think it's a lot more practical and I won't get a bill for the clean up fee of ice cream mess from the venue....

Plus I can decorate the bags and make them super cute xx
