Hey hun never too early we are getting married on 23rd June 2012 and there were only 6 available Saturdays left in that year, very crazy, we were just lucky one was the month we wanted. We have only had to pay a £500 deposit to secure it and out minister is also booked for a 2pm ceremony for a £50 deposit. I suggest getting your thinking caps on for where you would like to have your big day, church, all in a nice hotel, manor etc and get visiting. Good luck xxx

hi tinkerbell, congrats and welcome! :)

Depending on where you want to get married ie registry office, church or venue, sometimes it pays to start looking now as some of the more popular venue choices can be booked for up to 2 years in advance if not longer.

I think most registry offices work on a 12 month prior to booking rule although im not 100% sure on that one.

First thing i done was find a venue i liked and provisionally booked it (im still yet to confirm a registrar, its getting close i know now for me lol) After that i think most things fall into place.

Every one on here is helpful and maybe able to help more than i can, but happy planning anyways xD

We have been looking at venues and the one we have booked (for july 2012) is all booked up for saturdays in that month so It's definitely not too early!

Things do get booked up very early (two years is nothing in the wedding world) Make sure you prioritise and book the things that are important to you early so you get a better pick of who you want at the price you want. I found photographers hard to get for the date I wanted. You can't really do much until the venue is booked as that sets the date and time for you. Once that is done and you can confirm the date you can start to book everyone else. I made a list of everything I wanted for my wedding and then booked them in order of importance.

Oh I almost forgot. Work out your budget and numbers before you do anything. No point in looking at venues you can't afford. I use an excel spread sheet for my estimate budget, actual costs, deposits paid etc. It really helps you stay in control of your budget then and unless you save money in one area you can't spend in on another.

Hey Hun, find a venue first then book it, you can provisionally book the registrar in advance to ensure you get the time you want but you can't book them properly until a year before as you have to give notice first and this is only valid for 12mths. We got engaged in may this year and we looked what venues we could afford, viewed them and booked it. I have provisionally booked my registrar and once I give notice this Oct I can book it properly. I would defo get it provisionally booked as my sister couldn't get the time she wanted and had to go with the only time they had left which was 12, she wanted it later. Good luck xx

congratulations, i would contact the registry office and the venue to see what dates they have aavailable and see if you can provisionally book them as they soon get booked up, some registrars let you book them a long time before hand and others dont, i rang our registrars 16 months in advance and they were very helpful, so were the venue, we managed to book both and then sort everything out afterwards, its never to early to start booking things x
