Originally i was dead set on going to the Maldives for our honeymoon! 2 weeks with nothing by sun, sand and............!!
However! I've been thinking about it recently, and am worried that i've forced this slightly on my H2B and it might not be something he'd have chosen had i not said about it. We're both quite young, i'll be 26 when we get married, and he'll be 22 (just call be a cougar!).
So i'm thinking, are we too young to go somewhere like the Maldives?? I imagine it as somewhere that people 30 and over go.
We both really want to go to Vegas at some point, i've been to NY, but hubby hasn't and really wants to go, so i'm thinking, whilst we've got about £4k to spend, do we just go for it and do Vegas/NY and maybe Hawaii (if we can), to make it a true once in a lifetime holiday/honeymoon?
What do you all think? Where are you all going/have you been?

I haven't been to the maldives but always wanted too some of my friends have been and said that its beautiful but ok for a week tops then you get bored of just sitting on the beach, so maybe split the holiday in half do a beech holiday with a city escape that way h2b can have some fun too

Honestly, the Maldives would bore me to death. I do like snorkelling and diving, but my OH doesn't, so I could hardly do that all day every day and leave him on his own. I also think I'd find it really claustrophobic being on a small island for 2 weeks; 4 nights would probably be the max I'd consider.
I think that a Vegas/NY twin centre would be great; you could also look at tagging on Mexico rather than Hawaii (Hawaii is very expensive; not sure a £4k budget would stretch that far).
We'll probably be going to Mexico, as we've been 3 times and it's perfect for us: amazing hotels at decent prices, great weather, and loads of see and do. We'll probably go for 3 weeks if possible.

we're also a young couple (both 21) and we're going to tunisia for our honeymoon :) this way we get all of the desert activities (quad biking, camping in the sahara) along with waterparks, and the beach.. a little bit of everything xx
i wanted the Maldives as also thought it looked amazing and everyone i know who's been raves about it. But upon reflection, apart from that, there's no other reason!!
We like all sorts of things, but neither of us has ever had an AMAZING holiday, just cheapy ones to Turkey etc, so we're not in to snorkelling or anything like that.
I think a twin/triple centre holiday might be the way forward! Thanks Barbie - haven't investigated but good to know what the £4k might get us and what it might not!!!
Although it would be lovely to have a relaxing time and do nothing - not sure we could do that for 2 weeks and justify spending that amount of money and have nothing to show for it apart from a few pics of sandy beaches!! Could always go to Florida and do Disney!!!

We have been to the maldives and it was fantastic. We loved every second of it and are planning to go back for our first anniversary.
We are going to Gran canaria for our HM but have hired a car so will be a totally diff kind of holiday than what we're used to
I really did marry my Mr Wright and we had a nice day for a
Wright wedding!
Mexico for our first anniversary

We've not decided yet where we are going, but I know it won't be a cruise as both myself and H2B do not like this type of holiday. We would both like to go somewhere hot, but I would prefer it if it were hot but had some historic type places as well which we can visit.
If you've got the money to do NY and Hawaii then do it.

What about australia? theres loads of places to go that are tropical and would cater to just relaxing on the beach but also theres loads you can do :) so would suit both sides
CommentAuthorKirst
There are loads of places you can do with twin destinations/cities the list is endless!
We went to Mexico as wanted the sun, relaxation, five star treatment and places to visit and stuff to do. You guys just need to decide what you want from your honeymoon? People have different ideas of what they want to do and that can sometimes change where you go (instead of where you think you should go as its what you do on honeymoon - you can always go there at a later date/ages!)
Hope you find your perfect place x x

my mil has been to the maldives and she said its just full of honeymooners lol. my oh would have loved to go somewere like that, i however wasnt so keen, it looks beautiful but looking at all the rooms they all look like they are huts on stilts in the water and i really dont fancy that at all. we decided to go to cyprus instead, i have been before and absolutely loved it, although we are staying at the other side this time...but it is the island of love x

I think the ny/Vegas thing with Hawaii would be amazing! And it sounds like you are already on board and your h2b would be thrilled. Maldives does sound amazing too though although lying on a beach all day could get boring.

Me and the HO have always wanted to go to Hawaii but found it costing to much we to have 4k for our honeymoon and we have found a cruises that's 1200 each 3 nights in vagas then you o round 5 Hawaiian Ireland's...the price is your flights hotel and cruises, but I'll be 22 and he will be 23 so like you we are thinking that we may be to young and may feel out of place when on the ship :-/ lol..I could not do the Maldives for 2 weeks I would get to restless x

My friend has just booked a 10 day 3 destination trip and that was only £1800 each. She goes next July, first stop LA, then Miami, then New York and home. See if you can do something like that so it includes places you want to go and things you want to do? I was expecting her to say it was miles more expensive than that! Xx

If you go for Vegas you can still get your sitting in the sun fix in amongst all sorts of other exciting things to do. We went there last year and got engaged. We stayed at the Bellagio and as my H2B is keen on poker I had a lovely afternoon by the pool while he played in a tournament, It was fab, waitresses brought me cocktails, the pool was massive, there were plenty of little secuded pools to. You can book out a litte area all to your self and have a massage which would be perfect for a honeymooning couple.
We are going a road trip down the coast of america for our honeymoon as as much as I like sitting by the beach i don't want to just do that. We're ending up back in Vegas for a couple of nights. xx

Have you considered heading East rather than West?
Malaysia is really really affordable, £4k between you will get you an amazing honeymoon and with 5* luxury too then once you get out there you won't spend much as it's cheap out there. They have amazing beaches, golden sandy beaches with warm clear sea plus it's not all just sitting on a beach, it's so rich in culture, plus they have the rainforest, see wild elephants and Orangutans and H2B and I also went to Selingan turtle Island and saw turtles at night laying their eggs. It's one of those trips of a lifetime if you're interested in that kinda thing. Then you can check out KL the capital of Malaysia if you want a bit of the city. You get guaranteed hot weather too.

Have you spoken to your H2B about what he really wants to do (or is he like my H2B and will say what he thinks you want to do?). Me and H2B are going to the dominican republic, something that we wouldn't do for a 'normal' holiday because it's about twice the price we'd normally pay, but thought we can have a holiday anytime but you only get one honeymoon x x
CommentAuthorGoldiepostie
me and H2B are going on normal holiday at the weekend, so thought i'd bring up the subject then (when we're both a lot less stressed with work!), get a few beers down him and see what he really fancies!!
I think a multi-destination holiday is going to be on the cards.
Thanks for all your suggestions ladies, you've been REALLY helpful!

My ABSOLUTE recommendation, if you have not already done it, would be to do Florida! My oh and i did it in April and spent 10 nights in Orlando and did all the theme parks and water parks etc followed by 4 nights in Miami for the beaches and nightlife. Best holiday by far!! I would move there if i could!! Plus we did soooo much for the money and the apartments we stayed in were amazing! Now the hard part is finding a destination to top that for our honeymoon!

We're going to a luxury hotel in Turkbuku, Turkey. It's apparently to turkey what st tropez & monaco are to France, full of swish bars & sun kissed beaches. We got a fab deal for a 5*+ ala carte hotel for a week and it's a place I'd never even thought of going!x
About to marry the man of my dreams
