It might be worth having a 'back up' place just incase you can't get to Jamaica but you do have spare money to book somewhere, that way you can still go straight after the wedding :) x

No not at all. The honeymoon we are looking at the flight doesn't leave until 6 days after our wedding and we think that's long lol we always said we would go to dom rep for honeymoon but I wouldn't go there now as wouldn't leave lo for any longer than a week so wouldn't be wise given travelling time. I'm finding it hard even thinking about leaving him for a week. The place we are looming at in Greece is 5 star all inclusive and it's VERY luxurious for us. And an affordable price.

I know what you mean Danielle, there are flights that leave on the Friday which is 6 days after our wedding as well and we thought naaah that's too late! Haha. It would be handy to be able to book 2 weeks or so continuously off work so the wedding and the honeymoon run seamlessly into each other. I think getting married then going back to work for a week or so would just kill my buzz completely haha xx

I felt like that too, luckily our flight is on the Monday after the wedding on the Saturday so we get the Sunday to get ready then we go. I have always thought you can't go back to work after getting married until you've been on honeymoon haha, reality would hit too quickly if you had to go to work straight after x

Yeah I think the Sunday might be a bit rushed! It would be nice to wake up on the first morning of being a married couple and just having a leisurely day I think. I want to stay at our hotel all day on Sunday if we can and go home early evening time to then get ready for the honeymoon on the Monday! xx

Ooh handy to know, thanks Emma. I've found a really nice hotel in Lindos in Rhodes (my favourite place!) and they have a bizarrely low price for it compared to the likes of Th0m@s C00k etc... also includes the honeymoon suite although there is no picture of it yet!! xx

It is gorgeous, I absolutely love it there, would go back in a heart beat. I've emailed them and posted on their FB page to see if they can show me a picture of the honeymoon suite.. it says it's got a sea view, but they have suites with a private pool on the terrace as well, so if the honeymoon suite has no pool I think I'd rather just a normal suite!! xx

I'll be taking 3/4 weeks off but we would want to go sooner than 6 days as oh is self employed so can't take too much time off work but we don't want him to hav to go back inbetween the wedding and honeymoon. So we may look at other companies or even resorts to see if we can go earlier. But I kind of have my heart set on hotel.
What kind of price did u get for Rhodes Flossie?

I have officially booked mine! :) as we are living in Wales and hubby2be is a farmer who hates holidays and hot weather, I have compromised!
2 nights in bath (a spa deal which includes champagne breakfast and 1 3 course dinner) then head back and stop in Swansea and have food in a lovely place that I have never been to! Followed by a final night in a manor hotel in Tenby where we can see his mum on the way home :)

Which spa ion Bath are you going to Vicki?

The th3ram3 spa? Something along those lines, got a 3 hour visit in the deal, apparently loads of people rave about it and highly recommend it, didn't find this out until after though! Never even heard of it haha hopefully will be lovely and chilled out :)
CommentAuthorKatieH
Ah I know the one. Thought it was that one as don't know any others in Bath. We have been there for a 3 hour package. It is really lovely and so relaxing. We had a light lunch and a glass of wine included in ours. My legs felt like jelly when we were walking back to the car where I was so relaxed lol. I'm thinking of having my hen party there.

So things escalated rather quickly over the weekend and we have now officially booked our honeymoon, aaahhh!! We both decided that while the 'dream' honeymoon would be amazing, it's not necessary to spend so much money. It was either a bog standard hotel/room in an 'exotic' country, or an amazing 'honeymoon' factor room somewhere less exotic...
So we're booked for 10 nights all inclusive in 5* Pr1nc3ss @ndr1@n@ Resort & Spa in Rhodes, Greece leaving on the Wednesday after the wedding. We've chosen an executive sea view suite which has a 4 poster bed, lounge area, terrace, 2 bathrooms plus a jacuzzi. The hotel is a 20 min drive from Lindos which is perfect.
Will be popping pics in my wedding diary thread in a mo :)
Danielle - the original Rhodes hotel we liked is called Aqu@gr@nd in Lindos, although it's only half board so that's why we didn't go for it in the end. xx

So looking for a honeymoon is driving me absolutely insane.
OH will not input in the choice whatsoever. Leaving EVERYTHING to me as per usual
We've decided on Mexico for two weeks to leave the Monday or Tuesday after because our venue has a lovely spa that has our names all over it on the Sunday!
However how much are people thinking of spending? We or rather I have decided I'd like to go 5 star as its a special holiday and the prices vary so much!
I like the idea of having a swim up room because its the only time we'd do something like this but as usual oh has no interest in making a decision but these make the honeymoon nearly £4000 opposed to £3000; is it worth it!?
I'm also only looking at hotels with free wifi as for the price you pay I think its unreasonable to pay just to speak with those back home!
I really don't know what to budget and OH isn't inputting so I'm sure if I just booked something like he keeps telling me to then he'd moan about the price as per which most likely will fall to me to pay for !!
Has anyone been to Mexico before and can recommend a hotel?
CommentAuthorFutureMrsW
Rebecca can you perhaps put together 3 options like option 1 we get this and this for this much etc. and tell him he has to make the final decision by choosing one of the three? I've ever been to Mexico but have you looked on TripAdvi50r for hotel reviews?
OH and I have been looking into our dream honeymoon, which would be travelling to South America, Peru mostly to see Machu Picchu and the Amazon jungle with possibly a stop-over in Brazil. The trip would end with a few days at the beach.
This would be a monster sum of money (between £4000 - £6000 for the both of us) but I will probably be inheriting some money from my mum, who passed away this year. Potentially we could blow most of it on this amazing adventure, seeing some of the places we really love to go to, but at the same time I wonder if it would be best to just spend £3000 on a luxury all-inclusive closer to home.
I don't know, maybe we'll think about it more later in the year, when we know more about our finances etc.
CommentAuthorSamanthaW362
Bali!!! or Raja ampat!! thats very beautiful atmosphere there...
CommentAuthorPyxie
Obviously it depends what you enjoy, but I loved Peru! Both me & my OH aren't really 'resort' people - we'd get bored sitting by a pool all week and luxury rooms feel kinda wasted on us (I can see why others would like it - it's just not really our thing). But I would definitely recommend Machu Picchu, and the Inca trail if you like walking! And just Peru in general, we spent a month there last year and it's a wonderful country!
CommentAuthorBecci93
Thanks Ladies
Sorry about your Mum!
I had 4 short listed hotels and gave him the laptop and made him pick because I couldn't make a decision and he decided he had a favourite which was surprisingly was the cheapest too - massive outlay of £3700 for 2 weeks ouch!
However we are going to Mexico as we've always wanted to try that and I would love to swim with dolphins there adn we are travelling on the dreamliner which OH will love - We went for the swim up deluxe room as we guessed we only honeymoon once and want it to be a more special holiday- I guess this will let us spend more time together rather than having to sit by the pool..
I've never heard of anyone who's been to |Peru! Usually we are quite active but I was in a car accident a few weeks back and I still don't know if my back pain is going to have lasting effects so we had to play the honeymoon safe just in case - definitely look into it for the future though once I've been cleared!

We decided we weren't fussed about a swim up room - we'd much rather get out of our room as opposed to spending the majority of our time in/around it. We opted for an 'executive suite' which instead has a sea view, a nice balcony/terrace, nice lounge area, 2 x bathrooms with a jacuzzi in one of them. We're paying £2700 for 10 days all inclusive in Rhodes, Greece.
When saving for the wedding is all done and dusted we've spoken about saving for a holiday the following Feb which will be to somewhere more exotic. Probably Jamaica or the Maldives xx

We've got our hearts set on a road trip along the West Coast of America, so rather than ask for gifts we're going to ask for donations so we can put that towards our honeymoon. One of my closest friends lives just outside San Francisco and she won't be able to come to England for the wedding, so we want to see her too en route.

We are having a swim up room in Mexico Rebecca, OH loves pools and prefers them to the beach so he will be happy as larry. Plus the main pool usually closes around 6-8pm so he will enjoy having a swim outside our room later on at night xx
