on our day there is an hour gap where the room changes from the wedding breakfast layout to the evening reception layout. where do guests go during this time? are we supposed to have something planned?

    TIA X

We didn't have anything planned. Do you have guests staying at your venue? A lot of our guests were staying the night, so it gave them an opportunity to check into their rooms if they hadn't already and get freshened up. Some guests also used this time to sit in the bar, the lounge, have tea or coffee, sit by the pool or walk the grounds etc.. We used the time to go off with the photographer and have more pics done then went up to our room ourselves right before the evening guests arrived so we could freshen up and have a moment away to ourselves!

thanks flossie :) yes there will be guests who are staying at the venue so that's a great time for them to frshen up if need be, and MrsC2be yes there is a separate bar area i just didnt know if it would be acceptable for 75 guests to just hang around there? as it is open to the hotel guests also

I either go back to the room and get freshened up, or hang about in the bar for a bit. :-)

In all honestly Nicole your guests would probably be grateful for a bit of down time. A change to re-charge the batteries before the evening reception gets underway and a chance to reflect on the day :)

I think all weddings I have been to so far and have at least at hour turn around at some part, many tend to hang round the bar quite happily. It is probably a good chance for you to mingle and speak to the guests for a bit in between photos and eating x

We had a couple of hours between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast, then about 45 mins between the wedding breakfast and dancing time. Our guests just mingled around the bar and the gardens. Nobody seemed to get bored.

We have our place exclusive use and will have about 1.5 hours between breakfast and evening do so this will give our guests to check into rooms or sit in bar- the hotel has croquet and a couple of games outside so if it is sunny then people will be in the patio chilling :-) xx

Our bar is in the room next to our reception room, and tea and coffee will be available and the bar will be open, so we will all move into there while our room is turned around for the evening

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

We have a close up table magician for the hour inbetween the day and night.
Lots of the H2B family are staying over at the venue as they have travelled from down south but most of my family live local, but not local enough to nip back home.

As someone who has worked at a wedding venue on weddings I found that in that hour gap guests either went one way or the other.
Getting into the party mood and drinking excessively, messing with the decor and props.
Or had a coffee or tea and then fell out of the spirit for the evening.
Of course there are normal people too but they were few and far between!

We have time between ceremony and wedding breakfast so guests will be in another room just mingling. Having that time gives you time to chat with guests and possibly allow them to get some more pictures of you as well. xx

We have a separate bar area that everyone can sit in for a while, but like it has been said to gives people a chance to check in if they are stopping or freshen up if they need to. I wouldn't worry about supplying anything for people to do.
