Hi everyone. Myself & H2B have picked the date for our wedding. We changed the date from September this year to September next year, because I've recently lost my job, so at the moment we only have the 1 income. We are totally stuck though as to where to start? We know where we want to have the wedding and who we want to come but other than that we have nothing. Can anyone please give me an idea as to where to start and when?! Obviously because we are on a tight budget we need ways to save on things, if that makes sense? Hopefully you lovely ladies out there can help me. So glad there is a site like this where I can get help and advice. Thank you so much in advance.

    Emma xx

Welcome and congratulations on your Engagement Emma!
I'm sorry to hear you've had to postpone the date but this just means you have a bit longer to plan your most special day!
There are plenty of threads to help you get yourself started, the fact you have a date, is a good start!
Set yourself a realistic budget, things you definitely want, sort of prices you want, work out things you may be able to save on via doing it yourself, things like that. Start getting quotes for venues or ideas on prices of things to give you a heads up.
There are also a lot of DIY threads, and alot of B2Bs full of DIY tips and advice so get snooping through the threads!!

Thank you Jordan I will go and have a look to see if I can find it. We are gonna book the local town house for the wedding because the registrars only holds 50 people and we need 60 as everyone that is attending will be travelling to Aberdeen. We are just having close family and friends to the whole event so want them there for the whole thing. We didn't think it was fair to invite people and have 10 of them come all the way just for the evening xx

Congratulations on your wedding Hun. Postponing is a positive choice, at least you have time to comfortably plan without putting yourselves under financial pressure.

Doing a lot of DIY will save you a fortune and also having a late ceremony (saving the meal/buffet until evening will save lots!) there are lots of tips on here and everyone is really helpful :)

I'm getting married 6 September next year too so we can keep each other updated! Xx

congratulations, were planning on doing alot of things ourselves, like the invitations food etc.
Another idea why don't you get family to take lots photos on the day and then give you a copy of them on a disc. That way you can choose your favourite ones to go into your wedding album. You would be surprised at how many good shots you get this way.

    xx

Hiya Bev, yeah we are having the ceremony at 4pm that way there won't be too long to wait for the buffet in the evening. We aren't having a sit down meal. Also Gillian love that idea of getting people to take the photos I've made photo books before and I love them because you can add quotes etc so would defo love to do something like that.
