Hi, me and my h2b are planning to get married in a different town to where we live. Where would we register our notice? In our home town or the town we intend to get married in?

V good question. I think you need to tell your registry office as normal, because they ask you where you'll be getting married. Sorry, don't really know :) x

you need to give notice of marriange to the registras in the town you are living in 7 days prior to giving notice. We had the same issue and gave notice in cardiff district but are getting married in caerphilly district. Apparently the computer system automatically notifies the disctrict you are getting married in regardless of where you actually give notice.

Hi Gem, Angelaeris is correct. Today I went to my local registry office in Nottingham to give my notice of marriage, and Mark is going to his in Leicester next week. Once we have both done that, the registrar performing the actual service on the day will be notified, and then we will meet up with her over the next few months to discuss our choices and order of service. Dont know why but I was really nervous when I went in to meet my local registrar lol. The whole thing only took about 20 mins so not sure what I was expecting!!

We are getting married in a different city but had to give notice in our own registry office, then they sent the info to the one we are getting married at.

It can be rather confusing. I live in Warwickshire and my partner lives in Staffordshire but pays his council tax to warwickshire so had to use the same office as me even though their is an office nearer to him. We are getting married in Leicestershire so our notices of marriage from our local office gets passed onto them.

We're getting married in the toen that I grew up in, but we live 100 miles away. You need to register in the town you're getting married in, then you go to your local register office to give your notices.
