Hi everyone. Just wanted to ask. Has anyone sent out save the dates before they have even booked the church or venue.x

im waiting till june 2012, iv booked venues for ceremony and reception, not getting married till june2013, some people have sent them out with xmas cards:-)

We sent them out once we'd booked our venue and reception venue - but because we got married away from home we posted them out about 16 months before the wedding so that guests had time to arrange their accommodation and time of work etc.

I have not booked church or venue yet but i dont want to change my date even if i cant get the church or venue i want. Mine too is June 2013 the 15th. It would of been my grandads 85th birthday. No one knows the date we have picked and wanted to give family and friends save the date cards as little prezzys on xmas day.

Only if you're absolutely sure about your date I suppose - we got our date by co-ordinating when our venues were available so that's why we sent them out once we'd confirmed - we have a lot of people travelling to the wedding though so it's important they know the right date and city to book travel/accom arrangements etc :-)

I waited until i paid the deposit for the venue until i sent them out. That worked out at about 18 months before the wedding date as i had people travelling so wanted to give plenty of notice.

we started sending ours with our christmas cards to people that live away from us.... how about sending like a pre std. like maybe send to close family now with just the date saying more details to follow and then once you have found and confirmed the venue send out an updated one and re send plus to the outer circle of family and friends. maybe even in summer on your grandads birthday itself.
its just if you'd of asked us at first were'd of told you we were getting married on nye '12 in a church to have approx 80-100 to the day and meal part... when we found our venue we could have only a max of 50 to the ceremony which will be in a hotel on the 29th dec as they would not do nye. i'd had my heart set on nye since being little but this venue was so perfect when we found it i'd of probably settled for a midsummers day lol x

It is a tricky one, but I guess its just when you decide is the right time! We're sending ours in April, 12 months beforehand :-)
