We've booked our wedding for next May (2014) and I'm wondering when I should send out my 'Save The Date' cards? It's a Bank Holiday weekend so we don't want people to go booking holidays, but I don't want to send them out so early that people forget!!

We are getting married in August and sent our STD's out in December so 9 months before however i did announce on Facebook when we booked the wedding so most people knew the date then.... however i think a year to date is a good time for a STD xxx

I sent mine last month for a sept 2014 wedding, sending our invites about 8months before so just after Xmas x

We didnt actually send STDs but did announce it on FB when we booked venue/registrar and that was last June. So what, 11 months before? but we also did word of mouth too.
For those who have sent STDs on here it tended to be between 9 - 12 months before I think from what i remember reading about! x

Oohhh, for a bank holiday date I'd send them out at about 9 months. If everything is booked there's nothing wrong with getting the word out using old fashioned word of mouth starting now.
I'd go for a year before for bank holiday/summer holiday dates. A lot of people book their vacations a year in advance. We initially booked our venue, told family(7months before date), then was told my sister already had a wedding same day ( her husband's family) so we had to change our date. With hindsight, I wish I'd at least told family earlier.

We sent ours out nearly a year in advance because we're getting married at a prime time for holidays.

We're sending ours out 12-13months before as we know our families tend to book holidays around that time and do it a year in advance to get it cheaper !! 9 months before I'll be sending out a 'What's your address' text/email/FB group which also acts as a 2nd reminder :-) And then 5-6months before we'll send the real things as our venue needs the numbers 1 month before the date so I'm putting 1 month before that as the RSVP deadline cause I know I'm going to have to chase people so gives me a nice month to do that it :-) xxx

I think I'm going to send them at the beginning of next month so that gives me a year.
Wow! Everyone seems so organised! I keep being told "Its a year away - why are you stressing?" but I'm right to get organised yes??!!

We get married over a Bank Hol in May 2014 and I sent mine at Xmas .... mainly for cost reasons as it meant we could just stick them in Xmas cards lol!

Ours is bank hol in may 2014 too!!! is urs the first one or end of month one?
I'm sending our save the dates out in June this year.
I know its early but with it being a bank hol weekend i was fretting about people getting time off work and one of our friends has decided to get married "early may" so want to get them out before her just incase its the same date lol!

The end of the month .... The 25th :)
Rather handy as it means everyone has the Monday off so people can have a drink and that week is a half term and as I work in a school very handy as I have a week off after :) ..... This was why we sent our StD's out so early due to School Holidays etc.

May next year? We sent ours out five months beforehand, so... Kill two birds with one stone. Put them inside your christmas cards - save on postage. :o)

We've designed the fridge magnets that we want to send out, we just need to get around to ordering them now! Then we'll probably send them out over the next 2-3 months and the main invites about 7-8 months before xxx
