I need a bit of help with when to send out my invites. My wedding day is the 1st of June 2013 and the reception venue want final figures on the 30th April. So when do I send out the invites and do I send day and evening invites at the same time?

Have you got a lot more to sort our Joanna??

Yay, someone who shares my date :) Rachael, we're in the middle of making our own invitations now. We still have to get rings, bridesmaids dresses, flowers, centrepieces and book a honeymoon. What about you? Xxx

Hi Jenny, I am not getting married until Aug 2013, but planning on sending out invites in Jan - OH family is in Ireland and we're having a Friday wedding so people will need to book a day off work. Only thought it was polite to give them as much time as possible to organise (we also didnt send Save the Dates which kind of means we have to send the date out sooner rather than later.....) but it just depends on your circumstances x x

I'm getting married april 2013 and we are putting our invites in our christmas cards!!

We are getting married Aug 2013 but as Izzy, it is a Friday wedding, Bank hol w/end and during a lot of our family/friends summer holiday period We are therefore looking to send the invites out around jan/feb so the day can be booked off from work Its gonna be a popular time for annual leave, bank hol w/end always are
As for evening invites, I think what we are planning on doing is an earlier RSVP, say mid May so if we have many declines for the day, we have time to bump some guests from the evening list & they will have plenty of notice

I would send them out just after xmas hun, that way they will have them in plenty of time and they won't get mixed up with xmas cards

Im getting married in august and we are sending our invites out January so that people have enough time to decide and also people wont book any holidays then
CommentAuthorJennyY
I was thinking of sending them out in the January that way Christmas is out of the way and they have 3 months to reply in, we already had an issue with his stupid brother telling us we couldn't get married on the date we had already booked because he had wanted to go on holiday that date, he hadn't and still hasn't booked a holiday.

We get married on 28th March 2013, but we are sending invites out at the end of this month for a few reasons. Firstly, H2B has family from Scotland, Ireland & London (we are in Yorkshire) - some of these relatives are also in the army. Our wedding also takes place in the Easter holidays (: I think about 3 months before though generally. x

We will be sending our day invites out 6 months before as our venue needs final numbers 2 months before so the RSVP date will be 2 months after we send the invites. Then we will send the evening invites out 4 months before, and it also means we can bump some people up to day invites if some of our day guests can't make it without them realising they weren't originally down for the day xxx

We're doing the same Linzi... don't want people to know if they weren't originally down for all day! Just need to figure out when to send them now. :) x

Well we didn't want anyone to be offended thinking 'oh well we weren't good enough for all day but now so and so cant make it we are!' lol xx

Oh im lucky I don't have this problem. I am inviting evening guests only and I've no need to gather final numbers for my venue as they are allowing me 100 people maximum. I can, however still have an RSVP date so if people can't come I can invite more. :-)
CommentAuthorCatrinaP
im getting married in june sent invites out last month bit early but due to holidays and ppl having to book time off as its a friday wedding and ppl having to travel from england to scotland thought it was given them plenty time to book holiday of work and any holets they need to book also gives me better idea on who is coming how much i need to pay hotel for meals and if i need to invite anyone else to daytime if someone cant make it that i might otherwise have invited at night x
CommentAuthorKaren22
I'm getting married in August on a bank holiday so we've decided to send invites out the end of jan so people will know and RSVP end of may. Don't know about evening guests tho cos I have a few I want to bump up if I have spaces..

We are getting married in August, Im think feb/march for the day invites and may/June for the evening.
Our venue doesn't need final figures til two weeks before, but we are having a guest list crisis and it would be helpful to know who can't come straight away so we can bump some of the evening guests.
Also, we are getting married on a Friday so people will need to book the day off, and April is the time most people are sorting their holidays out etc.

Hi, I can see most of you are getting married next year ( congratulations :) ) I'm not getting married untill June 14 but we are getting married on a thrusday and was wondering when I should send out my inverstations, I want to make sure people have time to book time off work and send invites back, we have also got a back up list so if some people can't come to the day we can then invite others. With all this in mind any idea on when I should send mine out.

If its a Thursday, I'd say a good six months before, so people can book the day off. Also, I'd put the date as 'Thursday 22 June' so guests are fully aware that it's a Thursday and they will need to book time off.
I'd maybe be tempted to send save the dates even earlier, and then you can get away with sending the invites a little later

My wedding stationers offered some good advice on this one, if you have a look in their FAQs there are some hints on when to send out your invites. Basically you need to allow a month or there abouts for all your guests to get back to you but if you need to speed things up a bit, try setting up a dedicated email account for rsvps and put that on the rsvp slip, it's working a treat for me! If you get a chance have a look at LINK REMOVED
Good luck and don't stress! x
