Ladies, please could you advise me when to buy the wedding rings, some people have said six months before as they take to arrive and some say leave it as late as possible incase you lose wight on your fingers. We are thinking of getting them from argos, but i just don't know when to get them, im not getting married until may 18th 2013 but any avise would be gratefully appriciated. x

I bought my wedding band in january 2011, Becuase i was worried about the price of gold going up(and my word did it)! H2b got his a the start of the year, The ring still fits me perfect :) I would say a year before would be fine unless you find something you both like (If you having the same) at a great price x

We ordered ours in March. Hopefully they should arrive by october time.

Either way, it's far better to order them sooner rather than later, just in case any problems do arise. Incorrect sizing for example. If problems do arise, then you gave that "window" to get things put right, without too kuch stress.

I think if you're buying gold sooner the better so you don't end up paying more. We're getting titanium rings though so can't probably leave it till a few months before.

We got ours at the same time as the engagement ring, my OH booked a trip to Dubai for me to choose one and the prices there are so cheap it was worth doing them all. My engagement ring is a shaped one so it also meant we could have the wedding ring fitted to it.

We got ours 3 months before, it depends on where you get them from. We got ours from the jewellery quarter in Birmingham and as they make them on site, we were able to wait while they re-sized for me and took the rings home the same day - other companies however who don't make them on site will have to order from their workshops to make and send in for you.

We're getting married 24th may 2013 and bought ours from the company that come to your house. We were told by many different jewellers that the price of gold is going to increase quite a lot. I did think it was too early to be buying them and but I'm glad they're sorted I'm expecting them to arrive 1st September.

I've taken my engagement ring in for molding this week, metals keep going up in price so the earlier the better. As for losing weight on your fingers, well assuming you wear the ring for the next 50 years you're weight is likely to change in that time anyway.

We ordered ours back in September only because we could then spread direct debit payments to pay for them over 8 months. We recieved ours a few weeks ago and get married in 2 months. If you know what you like and wont change your mind i say go for it. If you are likely to change your mind on them and are unsure of what you've seen already, then i would advise waiting to find one thats perfect for you x If its Argos, you wont need to wait for them to arrive as you collect it there and then, and if it needs sizing i recon mo more that 2 weeks from a jewellers to do that job. xx

we've ordered ours already. the main reason being that we can now pay them off monthly and have the rings we def want. The company we are buying from do free re-sizing for life so didnt think it would be a huge issue :) xx

We bought ours about 15 months before our wedding - and got them from F Hinds (collected the same day as they were in stock). However, hubby put weight on before the wedding and had to have his ring stretched.

If you're buying from Argos I wouldn't buy them too early - maybe just before they change catalogues for the new autumn/winter stock if you've chosen already - as leaving it later might mean they could change their stock and not have the ones you want - but too early and they might need resizing/stretching.

I think as another member pointed out, it probably doesn't really matter when you buy them as they are supposed to be worn for the next 50 or so years so your finger size could change at any point during that period! I would buy them before the price of gold goes up and also if buying from Argos then before the new catalogue comes out as they may stop selling them x

dolphin - the company you are talkin about is who we are getting ours from.. they ask for a deposit and then you can make monthly payments (as many as u want). its not finance and does not gain interest. x
