I haven't been to try any on yet but I kind of know what I want my only worry is I'm currently a size 16 and I WILL be a size 12 for my wedding (it's not negotiable). My issue is I'm planning on ordering from she who cannot be named but don't know how far in advance to order because I don't want to order it before I'm at my goal weight, I don't want to leave it too late but at the same time I don't want to get it till I'm happy with my weight :/

the ones on the rack will be 'average' 10, 12, 14 etc however when they are ordered they take individual measurements so even though you may try on a 12 or 14 the one you get will be a completely different size!
As the girls have said above maybe go in and try on different dresses, get a feel for what you like and what you dont like (!) and also ask she who cannot be named for some advice - she will give you a deadline to order by and things like that. i was told by my bridal shop to order no later than 6 -8 months before as am marrying in may, needs to be ready by march and with xmas/chinese new yr offices here and there will shut over a period of time so dress making will stop! You have what 18months, so plenty of time to do some searching, and who knows the first dress you try on, may be the ONE! Oh and more importantly...when you go dress trying... have fun!!!! xx

I would get it in a few months time if you have some to lose. You will have a better idea of what you can lose too after that, and you must be realistic. If in a few months time and you still haven't lost weight, getting a dress three sizes smaller might be pushing it. Even go down a size if you find something, that way it can be easily altered.

When you get a dress made it's fitted to your exact measurements, so making up a set of measurements can be very risky. You may want to contact her and see what she says about timeline, etc.
