I've bought mine off the peg, its a sample dress and is a size or 2 too big. I'm trying to lose some weight before we get married and am already smaller than I was when I bought it but the lady in the shop said it didnt matter how much I lost because the style of the dress wont alter even if its taken in by 2/3 sizes or more. Personally I think I got mine slightly too early (14 months before wedding) but it was the one I wanted at a really good price and is too big rather than too small, so it really isnt an issue if i dont lose as much weight as i'd like. However I say if you see one you absolutley love then get it - just make sure its not in a size that is going to be unattainable. You're the best judge of how easy you find it to lose weight :o)

its not too early to buy but if you are going to lose weight lose the weight first as you may decide to lose more or less than anticipated.

I don't think it's necessarily too early to buy, though personally, I'll prob start looking about 18 months before. However, if you need to lose weight, I would start dieting first, and try to get to a stable, maintainable weight before buying; time is on your side, so unless you've already seen your dream dress and must have it, then I wouldn't start looking just yet.

i dont think it is too early to start looking and if you find your one then great i do think that it is too eaarly for you to order one in a size smaller as you dont know how much weight you will lose!

there is one b2b on here who is getting married really soon and she has had to lose so much weight as her dress is too small and it still doesnt fit! i dont think you should put that pressure on yourself on top of all the normal wedding stress

I don't think there's any harm in looking now, get an idea of what style of dress you want. I had my dress picked out before h2b popped the question! I just kept an eye on it to make sure the design didn't change (its made on demand so I didn't have to worry about it being bought).
With the time you have, you can also look around for the best deal.

But I will agree with the other lovely ladies here- lose the weight you want first so you don't have the added pressure of losing weight. And if you find yourself losing more weight after you bought your dress- its easier to take in a dress than let out.

We're getting married this August and I ordered my dress last April (so 16 months before) - but it took 6 months for the dress to arrive in the shop. I'm having my fitting in May.
