Might sound like a daft question but how long before the wedding do you send invites? We're getting married in October this year - do I send them a couple of months before or is it ridiculously early to send them now? xx

Remember that you need to allow time to get the numbers to your venue, esp if you are having a plated meal for the wedding breakfast.

We're getting married 2nd August and will be sending ours out mid-March with an RSVP deadline of 1st May. That allows us time to chase anyone who's late replying without putting pressure on ourselves, and then gives us plenty of time to collate the menu choices and notify our venue of numbers, and also do the seating plan. With the evening, it also allows us to invite people who we would like to come but don't currently have space for if we get anyone declining, without making it obvious they were on a B list (we've ordered spare invitations with an RSVP deadline of 15th June).

We are going to do ours 6 months before the day as our wedding is on a Snday so people will need to book the Monday off work and because our venue needs final number 6 weeks before! So we have save the dates going out a year to the day, invites 6 months before and then the RSVP's will come back 8 weeks before giving me two weeks to chase the none replys before we need to give numbers to the venue :D

I sent mine out 3 and half months before and gave them roughly a month to rsvp and that meant I had plenty of time to give my venue deffinate numbers 8weeks before :) just 5 weeks to go now and had a few drop outs since I've paid too which is annoying shouldn't have rsvpd and let me pay for there place if they couldn't make it! Especially at 70pound per head! So get absolute deffinates and tell them if they can't come to be honest from the start because these things aren't cheap xx

We're going to send ours mid-end of March and ask for responses by end of July then send 2nd lot and evening ones and then probably ask for those back by beginning of September to allow time to confirm numbers with the venue xxx

    Hello,

Your RSVP date ideally would be approx. 6/8 weeks prior to the wedding as this gives time to inform your venue or caterers of numbers and menus etc (if you have a menu choice) And then send out about 8 weeks before that. So June/July would be good timing wise if you work on that, for an October wedding...but it is personal preference in the end as if you are getting married in the school holidays the sooner you get them/save the dates out the better to stop those you really want to be there booking holidays over your wedding.

Ours have just been sent out. As its an informal wedding with a bbq we've just asked for a yes or no response by the end of June so we know how much food and drink is needed xx

hi, We have just sent our invitations our last week for our wedding at the end of August..

the rsvp that was sent with it has the date to return it by - end of june so everyone should know by then if they can come or not. it also has space on it for them to say what main they want. I also numbered the rsvp and kept a note of who had each number in case the rsvp comes back with no name !! ( tip found on here which I thought was a good idea )

Depends on a number of Factors really.

We get married end of May but we sent our Day invites out at the start of December and our evening invites were sent in January.

For some this may be early but for us we sent them this early because I work in a school and we get married in a half term and on a Bank Holiday Weekend. Also, as we are giving our day guests options for the Wedding Breakfast, they need our final numbers in a couple of weeks time.

We'll be sending ours out at the beginning of next year for an August wedding, not decided when in the beginning of the year but between Feb and March probably... we want R.S.V.P's by May so we have time to chase people up and venue will want final numbers in June

I'm getting married beginning of June, sending all invites out next week with an rsvp date of end of April. This gives people approx 8 weeks to rsvp, then gives me approx 5 weeks to chase up lazy people and notify venue. Menu choices and final numbers need to be with my coordinator about a week before. I'm also doing a 'book of face' evening invite for most people. I sent my save the dates out in July last year, so people should already have the date booked off! X
