I've got 8 months to go and have broken my wrist, was going to decorate my own cake but because of how bad the break in my wrist is we've decided not to take any chances and are going to have one made instead but when is the right time to start looking and ordering your cake

I agree with above about looking now. We booked ours last month. With all things wedding its better to do things ealier than later. Especially if you have something specific in mind.

I always ask people to book with me as soon as possible so i can secure their delivery date and a day before purely for their cake. Definitely start sorting it now as people get booked very quickly and they have to work around personal time too.

I really gets my goat Anastasia when cake decorator book in 7 cakes in for the same weekend as a wedding order.. i know its about money but id rather spend my time giving a bride a lovely cake then do the smaller cakes when i get home from setting it up.

Get flavours in mind, and a rough idea what your after that way you can get a accurate quote and wont get a shock as they wont be able to bump up the price. :o) Any questions you can always pop me a message.

i met my cake maker and booked my date early january shes already fully booked for june, july and august this year so want to make sure i got my date in early. i would ring and eamil the ones you like to check on dates as soon as you find someone you like

My mum is doing our bouquets and is using autumn colours for them including trailing ivy so was going to go with the same theme for the cake

katg i think plain sponge cake can sometimes be a bit boring but if they get the flavors and texture right can be amazing and there is so many choices in flavour these days that you can have anything you want.

Why not go for different flavours? There are so many amazing flavours out there it can be hard to choose but you don't have to have just normal sponge at all.

As for the design you could have Black Stencil work on a white cake? Maybe have the ribbon as the same shade of green to help tie it all together? Or you could go for a checkboard cake, that way the sponge can be all 3 colours. :)

Yes and so far they do, one guy was offering 10% off if we ordered via his flyer before the end of this month. We are wanting a 4 tier and said he could do it for £275. Is that a reasonable price?

TeresainLove - I noticed you're in Blackpool. We got married last August but ordered our cake 7 months before. We used Elegance on Talbot Road in Blackpool and can highly recommend them. We live in Leeds but noticed their cakes while we were visiting for the day. They'll cater for just about anything you want and seem to be reasonable. We only had one tier, but it was a big cake shaped as an open book and it cost us £117 including cake toppers that were specially made for us.

£275 is a good price.. but try knock him down to £250. If he is already offering a discount im sure that bit more wont hurt. Although saying that i dread people asking me to reduce price lol But i always try to offer another at least 10% on top of discounted prices already :)

I still can't make my mind up and trying to pin h2b down to have a look is hard work. There's another wedding fayre on sunday coming funnily enough at our hopefully new venue so going to try and drag him along to that and see what cakes are there, its been a nightmare this week

Managed to get bus into town to see the lady thats been making cakes for me for years. She's still free the day of our wedding and can make the cake we want for £270. I've paid a deposit and a great weight has been lifted. One less thing to worry about now Yay
