If you want your little boy to be a ring bearer and have them on a cushion you can get cushions with little ribbons to tie the rings to them so that they don't fall off while they're carrying them down the aisle. I'm not sure I would trust a 3 year old with them to be honest, but I'm sure people do it, I've seen pictures.

We're probably going to have my son who will be a page boy also take the rings down on a cushion, but that's because when we first told him we were engaged the first thing he said was that he would look after the rings at the wedding, so we can't really not let him. He will be 7 at the time of the wedding though.

As for when to buy the rings, I don't think it's too soon to buy your fiancé's ring as long as you put it somewhere safe and don't forget where that is. I don't have my ring yet but my fiancé has his as it's an old one of his dads which doesn't fit him any more.

We have found our rings as well. We are going to order them in about 4 wks. I dont think its too early.
I am having my nephew and our daughter doing our rings. She will be 2 and my nephew 2 1/2. Im having them carry the rings down in silver roses that are ring boxes.

We bought our rings in the May half term and not getting married until April. If your OHs ring is there then there's no reason you have to wait to buy them together. Save up for the ring you want and let OH have his :) Ours are kept in the box (we were given a double ring box) in a place where we keep all our wedding stuff, can't get lost as its kept in the bag on the shelf.

The cast of mine was made over a year in advance, but we didn't place the order/pay until about 2 months before. No real reason, we just kind of forgot lol.

If your OH's is a good price, I'd get it now; with yours, maybe wait if you can't afford it yet or see if they do a payment plan (sometimes you can order it to secure the current price, and then pay in monthly instalments and collect it when you've paid the last one).

Re who has the rings: that's totally personal. As you said, your 3 year old might not be the best choice lol, so another option would be the best man or one of the bridesmaids. In our case, one of my bridesmaids had my ring (which she wore lol), and then the best man had OH's, and OH had my engagement ring. When we exchanged the rings, my bridesmaid came up and gave mine to my OH, who put it on, followed by my engagement ring on top which he had in his pocket. Then they called up the best man to give my OH's ring to me. It worked nicely and I liked the symmetry (ie someone from each side involved).

and yes i actually really like that idea about who has the rings thx!! x

We got our rings in January for an August wedding. If you want a child to carry the rings you can, as long as they are secured on a cushion. We had a small page boy but I didn't want to trust a child with the rings, so the best man had them as is normal.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.
