We've got 190 guests and we're having a 3 day party for our wedding, with a restaurant meal the night before for 70 people, the wedding itself, then a buffet at my mum's the day after for family- so all in with the Maldives 10 night honeymoon and a 3 night mini-moon, we're looking at £24k all in (we're asking for cash as wedding gifts!!)

we set a budget of 7k. that was with both sets of parents putting in 1.5thousand each. the total spend is 9k. and the extra money has just come from collecting bits and bobs we didnt think about in the first place...and youll laugh at this (the dress hahah) we forgot to include it.. but my parents bought it for me. were not having a honeymoon yet so havent included that. however our wedding is abroad.

Lol thanks....much less stress than the 10k we had worked out for the UK wedding! Soooo glad we went for it now.
The boys (Steve included) want to do the pirate ship day and the Paphos water park. I want to see the cypriot delight factory in Yeroskipou (like turkish delight) for obvious reasons .....nommmmm nommmm, after that it will mostly be lazy days on the beach or around the pool. xx

I keep looking at your cupcake logo and its subliminally telling me to eat cake!
Sorry back to budget subject. I think the major problem in the Uk is they pray on the word 'wedding' before you finish a sentence, they have added an extra 0 to their normal price. I've noticed in Cyprus they don't see it as a way of adding more on to the bill, with the exception of the major operators and specialised wedding venues. xx

It is there for that reason to make people eat cake lol luckily I don't have a massive sweet tooth or in my job it would be a nightmare to diet!
Ooo yes back to subject :-) I know it's terrible, I found it hard to swallow how much we would be paying just for food when we could be having the wedding we wanted... such a shame how they poke your eyes out! x

i'm not really sure what our budget is. we didn't really set one...which sounds pretty flash, but we've bought as we went along and searched for the cheapest of everything
i think it's costing about 6k all in , which freaks me out as we are constantly skint!!!! lol
can't understand where we have managed to pull all this money from!!

our budget started at 5k (not including honeymoon because we'd have been going on a nice holiday anyway) but we're looking at spending more like 6k now. Still not too bad I suppose! My mum has bought my dress so I haven't counted that, and she's also just given us £1000 so that's helpful :o) We're probably spending about £2000 more on the honeymoon that we would on a normal holiday (its costing £2000 each before spends, and we estimate we'll need about £800-1000 spending money each including trips) so altogether we're looking at around 8k all in.

Our initial budget was 15k but we have pretty much doubled it, its standing at about 29k at the mo. That doesnt include lots of little bits i have bought as I go along so probably will be a little over 30k. A huge chunk is going on our honeymoon though - so its not all on one day we have had a 6k of help but the rest we have saved ourselves :)

ours started at 8k, then 12k then 20k and now its 25k. Everything is booked and almost paid for though so it will not be going above that. This includes rings and a honeymoon (just not spends or new clothes etc so we are saving up for those extras at the min as the rest of the money is in the account to pay for the wedding).

Ours started out at 5k, it's now crept up to 6k and we are working really hard to keep it around that sum, not a lot left to do now so think we are going to do it :) Our honeymoon is 2k though and being paid for by very kind parents and not included in the budget, is that cheating? x

I guess its relative to our earnings so it doesnt feel too bad. We have what we want and have blown the budget on a few things that are important to us but havent gone totally crazy and somethings we have saved on. We own our house already so we dont need to save for that. We didnt want to look back and regret not having the things we wanted It is a lot of money, but you only live once :)

Yeah i suppose it is all relative, and being a lowly civil servant thats maybe why i cant afford it. TBH we maybe COULD afford it actually, but we just dont want to, thats why we are having such a small wedding of 24 guests, we could definately find 100+ family and friends to join us, but we simply dont want to spend that much, and we want a small intimate wedding.

We are not having an extravegant wedding, its just when we first decided on the original budget we had not really done a lot of research in to the cost of things. We have picked one of the cheapest venues in our area, we have decided against transport for our guests, invitations and all other stationery is being handmade. If I find any way at all between now and the wedding to reduce the costs then I definitely will. Not totally over the moon with what it is costing, but my positive outlook on it is that I am only planning to do it the once and want it to be as special as it can be, with all the loved ones we want there to be there to share our day with us. This is not money that we just have we have had to save long and hard to be able to afford this.
