After reading another ladys thread i was just thnking just now whats the point in having favours?

I mean they do look nice and lovely sitting on the table but by the end of the night most people leave them so what is the point in having an extra cost just for people to have a look inside and go "oooooooh" and then leave them?

I agree but I'm one of these people who like to keep little momentums so will probably still have them for others to remember our special day (then again they could always just keep the invite lol)

we didnt have favours as such just sweets like love hearts n palma violets.....ie retro sweets dotted around the tables............. they went well as every1 nibbled but i couldnt see the point in favours, most of our families didnt even wanna be there anyway lol!!!

they made it pretty obvious x x x

We're not doing favours as such - we're having a sweetie buffet with favour boxes that guests can fill themselves. This way only those who are interested will take them - and anything left over (unlikely with all the kids running around lol) can be taken home with us and I'm sure our own kids will polish them all off!

Yes, this is why we too have got cupcakes and sweet trees for people to dig into - went to a wedding last year where they had hand crafted love spoons on the tables, so H3B took 2 home - and they're still on the shelf!

I've chosen tea light holders as favours, as they are being used as table decorations as well so if people don't take them, I don't care but I have brought organza pouches and filling them with sugared almonds and love heart mints. All of my favours for 75 people have cost about £30 so I'm not fussed if they go to waste

As one of the ladies said above, people like to keep momemtoes of the day. As I have grown up going to many Italian weddings where the bomboniera (favour) is a MUST, I remember looking forward to seeing what we would get given and it always got taken home. It is a thank you for your guests for coming (I know you are paying for the day) but it is something they can keep. They don't have to be expensive, most favours start from £1.00 upwards and you can cut costs by making your own sweetie filled bags or something.

I've only been to one wedding where there were favours. We wern't going to have any as I also couldn't see the point but my sister got some wooden coasters made up which also doubled up as place names. Out of 80 we had 5 people left them. I was going to post them out with the thank you cards (as we knew who left them because it had their name onit!) but forgot, so just recycled them. If they'd wanted them they would have taken them on the day, they were small enough to fit into pockets and handbags.

The boys tend to be the ones that leave stuff behind hence why I've just bought them gliders and the ladies I've had hand made bookmarks made as they are the ones who take them home

We didn't have favours. I suppose the nearest to a keepsake that we did have was the placecard holders, as they were silver (not real lol) crossed over mini cutlery and the card sat in between. All the guests took a liking to them and asked if they could take theirs home - so really it worked out a lot cheaper than actual favours lol.

Our theme is summer brights and generally a lot of fun, so each guest is getting a technicoloured cupcake (made by my cousin) and also a little windmill to play with on the day or take home! Saw them and totally loved them as they're all bright colours, and they come in a pack of 16 for £3.99 so are like, 25p each!

We had cancer research trolley tokens... and ours was the only wedding I've known of, that allllllll the favours were taken :-)
