I would think they are the same thing....
If it was a Matron of Honour I could understand as once someone is a married woman themselves then they become matron rather than maid.....
But then still not sure why you'd need both!

It depends if they are married to what they get called. MOH is a lady who is already married, Chief bridesmaid is a lady who is head of the pack that isn't married. You could have a MOH and chief bridesmaid. Its your day so you do what you want. As for who signs the register you can only have two people so it would be nice for your h2b to pick someone and you to pick someone but it can be whoever you want it to be.

right let me just get this straight, the MOH is the bridesmaid who is already married, but the CBM is the one who is head of the pack, organises the hen do, signs the register blah blah. so in actual fact, i do have one of each?

It is up to you who sorts out the hen night or you could get them both to work together to sort it for you. Personally I feel if the chief bridesmaid is the head as otherwise she would have been just a bridesmaid. It is entirly up to you who you get doing what.

yeah i think they are the same thing...anyone can sign the register it doesnt have to be a bridesmaid. we're having 2 friends who aren't part of the wedding party to make them feel more involved.

Yeh they're the same thing. I have got a maid of honour but her and the other 2 bridesmaids all are equal and have the same jobs, no one is better than the other x x x x

Yes they are the same thing: Maid of honour/matron of honour/chief bridesmaid. But you can have as many as you want as well as however many regular bridesmaids. They don't actually have a specific function other than they are suppsoed to have more responsibility than the other bridesmaids and i suppose they are in charge of them. So i suppose having a MOH and a CBM is just a way of giving 2 people more important/special names/jobs lol! It really is very flexible though you can do whatever you want!
