    we're having

Prawn and crayfish cocktail and Tomato and basil soup for those who don't like prawns
yorkshire puddings, beef and horseradish cream with pots and veg
    baileys profiteroles with chocolate sauce
    and coffee and mints

our buffet is all Mexican related food cos we love Mexican cuisine.

I don't think i have any veggies so i'm alright on that front, they can pick the meat out lol! i'm having to pay extra for the beef course otherwise it would have been pork and i think pork is a bit risky cos not everyone likes it

    My favourite subject.... food!

I thought ours was sorted but after a recent illness at Christmas, I've gone right off pate as it's the last thing I had before I was ill. So here's ours... they give them fancy names but this is pretty much what it boils down to...

Canapes on arrival (MIL wants them and is paying for them so thought it only fair that she got to choose them)

    Starter
Ham and Lentil soup/fruit cocktail of some description

    Main
    Chicken balmoral/pot roasted beef

    Dessert
    Cheesecake/cranochan

    Evening buffet
    Bacon baps or sandwiches (undecided)
    Pizza
    Chicken pieces of some sort
    Wedges

I wanted crowd pleasers and tbh I love the crowd pleasers too so they would be my choices anyway :) I actually cant wait until the dinner although my dress wont allow for looking bloated so I'll have to try to behave myself a bit lol x

    29th September 2012
Cant wait to be Mrs D!

We changed our venue, and we have been over there today and decided on our menu.

Welcome drink of either Pimms or bucks fizz and fresh strawberries

    Starter
Stilton and Spinach tartlet served on a bed of leaves drizzled with balsamic vinegar

    Main
Fillet of beef with wild mushrooms and madiera sauce, served with fresh vegetables

    Champagne Sorbet

    Dessert
White Chocolate and Buttercotch Cheesecake, with Butterscotch sauce

    Tea/Coffee & Mints

    Wedding cake with the toast

As we are not having an evening reception, but are staying around the hotel for drinks, If people are still there and hungry again later on , then we are providing bacon baps and pots of Tea & Coffee for anyone who wants it.

There's only 27 for us for the wedding breakfast so the venue said we could have whatever we wanted. To keep costs realistic though we have chosen:

Main: Roast Loin of Pork or Roast Leg of Lamb with all the trimmings.
Dessert: White Choc & Raspberry Baked Cheesecake, Caramelised Apple Tart Tatin, Strawberry Shortbread, Warm Choc Brownie, Sticky Toffee Pudding or Cheese board.

The kids are just having half portions of the options above.

In the evening we are having a sweet buffet & a cake buffet! We are also having canape's (because we aren't sitting down for wedding breakfast until 5pm didn't want to anything too heavy in the evening):

King Prawns wrapped in filo pastry with a sweet dipping sauce
Smoked Salmon and Herb Cream Cheese on Rye Bread
Sweet Potato Pancakes with a Mango,Lime & Chilli Salsa
    Pork,Honey and Sesame lollipops
    Ham, Quail Egg & Chips

Now I've written all the evening stuff down it seems I have contradicted my previous statement of nothing too heavy! Hey ho!!

    Ohh food, love food :)))

We had a choice of 7 of each course to whittle down to 3 choices of each course, that was hard coz I'd have had the lot...haha...

Our 3 choices of courses are:

    STARTER
Home made country veg soup with crusty rolls
Home-made chicken liver pate and oat cakes
    Prawn cocktail

    MAIN
Roast Serlion Beef with Yorkshire puds and all the trimmings
Roast Turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets with all the trimmings (xmas dinner, as ours is an xmas wedding)
Pork Medalions with seasonal veg and roast potatoes

    DESSERT
    Chocolate Fudge Cake
    Profiteroles
    Sherry Trifle

    Tea, Coffee and Cheese board

We all have to pre-choose and we have to let the venue know what how many of each we are having.

we were having this discussion tonight with MOH - we are quite "foodie" and as we are getting married in October, we would love to have game - other half thinks everyone would like venison if they don't have a choice.... I am not so sure.

in austria you have the wedding cake straight after the ceromony, so that serves as canapes i suppose, strange but interesting
were also having drinks on arrival.

the meal is served about 2 hours later

    potatoe and leek soup
    or
    tureen of pumpkin soup

    sorbet

austrian loin with potaoe wedges green beans and onions
    or
    vegetarian cordon blue

    apple studel and cream
    or
    chocolate pancakes

we ove the slightly different menu (particly becaus were getting marriesd abroad so the offer for something slightly different, yet stilly homely was really exciting to us)

for our party back home were undecided on either
pork and stuffin batches with chips
    or
finger buffet consistnig of sandwhich selection, halumi and fruit kebabs, chicken drumsticks, mini quiche, spring rolls, nuts and crisps

we will also have a sweet buffet at the party and of course wedding cake
