have found the perfect venue. h2b has not seen it yet but think he is going to fall in love with it as well.

what would you do.... its 11k for venue and wedding breakfast - completely way over what we was wanting\able to afford. we aren't going to get married until 2013 as we can't afford to.

would you pay that amount for a venue or settle for 2nd best at a much lower cost.... wish i had never gone to see the venue now!! lol! x

lol bless, if u realise u can find a way of paying for it then go for it. As special day it is, the important part is your marrying the one you love and want to marry. If u think it will cause u to be in debt then seriously talk about it, is it worth being in debt for? xx

Is now happily married to my gorgeous man

What do you get exactly for £11k - you need to work out what you would budget individually for things to see if it is worth the money really, x

I would settle, 11K is a hell of a lot of money, that's my budget for the entire wedding. And you can get some beautiful venues for much MUCH less lol x

im not one for getting in debt - am very careful with money! think thats why its such a hard decision as in the back of my mind i think what we could do with that money if we had it!

if we saved hard and with a little help we could do it.

really want it to be special. every where we have been so far the ceremony room has not been that nice. but the place i have found is gorgeous (accomodation and gardens aren't perfect).x

everyone is different I would not spend that. I defo would not get into debt for it

but if its what you want and your day will be less without it then you will have to see what else you can save on and maybe wait a bit longer so you can save up more

If you say accomodation and gardens arnt perfect then i'm sure ud b able to find 1 u like nicer. I think every part of my venue is perfect andits only costing about 3-4K i think. It's definitely a lot of money to spend if there are things about it that u dont think r perfect! I'd want gold plated tiolets for that amount of money lol x

If it is the ideal venue maybe you could ask them to adapt the price for you so you can afford it. Like for instance not having a dessert course, or reception drinks, cheaper wine on the table etc etc. We went and saw our first venue the other day at £9000 but they have said we can adapt it to our budget. And this is the cheapest of the places we are going to visit.

For £11k I wouldnt compromise if you felt the accomodation and gardens werent great. Ive looked for a venue for so long and basically "made do" with what we could afford for next year. I wasnt 100% happy with it and felt we had to compromise because it was affordable. However our perfect venue came literally out of mid air...just when I thought Id heard of every venue there was! It is more expensive than the original as its just over £7k but includes everything including favours! We just choose what we want and they will provide it. We do have to wait an extra year to afford it but I think its well worth it to be completely thrilled about the wedding now. However for £11k I am sure you could find something that you are 100% happy with.....dont plump for this venue just yet unless you are totally sure you want it. Have a good scout around...the good thing about having your wedding in 2013 is that you have time on your side. xxx

Sharyorks - I completely sympathise with you!! Me & my h2b are in same situation. We have found a perfect venue that costs too much (also £11K for room hire/food/drinks - when we had a £8.5K budget for venue/food/drinks)

We have 2 schools of thought at the moment.
1 - To ask for contributions to our honeymoon instead of wedding presents so we can use some of the honeymoon budget to pay for venue. Search web for cheaper flowers, cake, table decorations, make own invites & cut costs any way we can!!! This should mean we can afford the venue (just!)

2 - Keep looking & settle for the next best thing venue wise.

    Good luck & hope you & your h2b find a solution you're both happy with!! x x

wow thats a hell of a lot for the venue babe, personally i would never spend that ( i think mine is alot for 3.5k lol) but if you have your heart set on it and you think you can save it in the time then go for it.
But never get yourself into so much debt you cant afford to live

thank you for all of your replies - i really appreciate it.

in a way i really hope h2b likes the venue. in another way im hoping he doesn't! since seeing this venue i have seen three more and none are any where near as nice.

the accomodation does let it down - only has three bedrooms. although this is only a negative because we had originally thought that all our guests could stay over and wave us off the following morning. on a positive it means that just our parents can stay and we can have breakfast the next day with them without the bother of everyone else.

the gardens are not as nice as other places we have seen but are still nice.

the venue is allerton castle. don't think pictures do it justice. to me it had a really nice feel in side.

    thanks again x

I would go for the cheaper option, much less stress! I was looking online at my original venue of choice and realised I had made the right decision going for the cheaper option, it may not be as pretty and good for photographs but at least I dont have to worry about paying the bill!
