I'm getting married for the 2nd time (was 16 first time - big mistake!). We aren't really wanting to do the whole church wedding/white dress thing. We were thinking of getting married on the point of a small island of the coast of Scotland, problem is that it's down a track that we (and guests) would have to walk. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should wear? Would like a dress but obviously would need to be practical. Also we were thinking of keeping the actual venue a secret from the guests until the day so how would I tell them to wear hiking shoes?? :-)
Thanks

Sorry no help on the above problem but welcome to ukbride and congrats on your engagement. xx
oh oh oh oh...you can get shorter wedding dresses, that would look super funky with hiking boots, lol. xx
I can't believe we've actually done it

Thanks for your congrats, got engaged Christmas day but only just found this site.
I'm thinking off wearing a purple dress, my friend has suggested getting a pair of purple doc martens. Like the thought of that and would love to see the wedding dress shops when they ask to see my shoes :-) :-)

I think purple wellies would be quite good too but I would probably go for a 3/4 length dress. Oh n congratulations on the engagement xx
Can the venue put hay down, planks, carpeting..or would that spoil the nature there at all? That way you could wear what you wanted & your dress, shoes & the guests things would be fine there too.
Other than that Doc Martin's or Wellies would be so kitsch!
Is it Eilean Donan that you're marrying at all?
Just really curious too LOL
Welcome & Congrats too!

Hmmm, like the idea of purple wellies :-)
Don't think they can put anything down at venue, it's not really owned by anyone. It's a place called 'Paddy's point' on the island of Millport. My fiance's name is Patrik but is known as Paddy and it's his favourite place so seemed like good place to marry.
4 years to go and I'm already getting excited!
