    Hi everyone

i have ran through my timeline and i have about 2 hours spare with day guest while we wait for the evening to kick in at 7, i am thinking maybe i should do some entertainment the dj will be set up from 6.30 so if we do get to go in to the reception room there will be music on but should i think about a magician or something or just take advantage of 2 hours free time... any more suggestions other than a magician as well???

I'm still creating my timeline, but I already have this issue. Don't know what to do after the meal to keep the guests busy and entertained without getting over the budget... I thought about the photo booth, but can't see how can this entertain every one. I know people will be chatting and drinking, but something to help them to interact would be good.

Depends on where you are having it, maybe some giant garden games if the weather permits, or just spend the two hours mingling with your guests. You will be surprised at how quickly that time goes.

Your guests might be thankful for some 'quiet time' and just enjoy mingling with everyone and reflecting on the day. We are having a magician to entertain our guests whilst the photos are being taken and through the wedding breakfast, but the break between the breakfast and the evening reception will just be an opportunity for our guests to sit down with teas and coffees, and those staying the night will have the opportunity to go up to their rooms to freshen up or have a chill out!!

I think it depends on how much entertainment you are having already, i.e. you don't want to go overboard. But I think I as a guest wouldn't want to be entertained at that point (especially after a big meal - sleepy!!) x

all i have booked so far is the dj we have no other entertainment booked, i may look into garden games as im thinking more for the kids i just dont want them to be soooooo bored and start running riot as we dont have exclusive use of the place. i am on a small budget as well and i guess if the weather did fail me we could bring them inside may to the conservatory. i will def think about that one

It might be nice then if you've no other entertainment going on apart from the DJ in the evening :)

Is one hour a good gap between breakfast and evening?
I want to get a band for the night, it's better than a DJ... and the photobooth :D (I love the idea, and it's not something usual here in Brazil, so the Brazilian guests would loooove :D

I don't think you need anything else TBH. Firstly, you are very possibly going to overrun on your timings, so it may well not be a 2 hour gap. Secondly, I agree with Flossie that guests may appreciate some 'down time', to go to their rooms and freshen up, or just sit and chat without any distractions. Weddings are pretty full-on for everyone, so we made sure we gave guests at least an hour just to chill, though there was music starting a little earlier for those who were interested.

I tend to feel some people go a little OTT with entertainment. We chose to focus on music, and felt that that was more than enough. I think the only way I'd have considered anything additional would have been if we had lots of children (we didn't; we chose an adult-only wedding), or a very large number of guests eg 200 plus.

We have about 3 hours between ours, but the staff have said they will help us make the wedding breakfast run a little longer, apparently this is the case with BBQ's normally anyway. And then most of our guests will have kids to collect before the evening starts as we are only having kids who are in the wedding party invited. Quite often people just like a little time to do their own thing in-between too :)

i have put together a games box to keep the kids entertained :) as i dont want them getting under anyones feet as we dont have exclusive hire so the hotel will be starting to serve food, fingers crossed its nice weather and we can have a run round outside. thank you ladies i think your right they may just was the chill time

You'll find that you'll be glad of some free time. Partly it allows scope for timings to overrun, as ours did on speeches, and you'll be glad of some space to relax.
