Ok, I need some help from you lovely ladies. My future in laws are paying for our honeymoon which I am so so grateful for. However, mil2b has just come back from lanzarote which is where they are booking. Only thing is I have never been abroad and I am really concerned about the heat over there. There were deaths in lanzarote this year due to the heat and it has concerned me slightly as I know I can't hack heat at all. I even fainted on the hottest day of the year in the uk last year. So should I just go and take loads of sun cream or should i try and compromise somewhere not so hot and seem ungrateful? Fil2b says I should just go and that if I do I will love it and be planning the next years holiday
Help! Lol

June shouldn't be TOO hot, though it will be hot.
Deaths from the heat can be easily avoided, as can sickness or fainting. Stick to the shade when the sun is at it's hottest (between 11am and 3pm) as much as possible (eg don't lie out in the full sun). Do not drink alcohol during the day, and keep hydrated with plenty of water; I'd be aiming for several liters as you will lose a lot of water through sweat.
Get a high factor suncream, and apply it properly: generously 30 minutes you go out, and then after swimming/turning over on your loungers (even if it says it's waterproof I still do this), and as often as you need to prevent yourself burning (the factor basically gives you x times your skins natural protection; so, if you burn in 2 minutes, a SPF 30 would give you 30 x 2 minutes protection, or one hour. I personally would be reapplying once an hour if you burn easily.
I used to be pretty bad in the heat, but have got used to it over the years, and can now cope with 40-45C if I'm sensible. Of course, if you feel that doing the above would put a dampener on things, maybe consider going at a different time of year, or, go somewhere cooler; north Spain for eg will be warm but not baking in June.

you cant nock it until youve tried it! im sure you will be fine. just make sure you drink plenty of bottled water and keep hydrated, wear suncream, try to stay in the shade especially during the hottest times of the day which is usually between 11am-3pm, wear a hat to keep the sun of your head. you will be fine, it is important to keep hydrated when its hot tho as this is usually the reaon why people faint or get heat stroke in hot wether as they get dehydrated. my brother once got heat stroke once from sitting in the sun all day drinking nothing but alcohol, and he didnt have any suncream or a hat on either x
