This might sound like a daft question - but I can't remember from first time round....at the ceremony what do you do with your engagement ring? The wedding ring goes on first doesn't it? Do I take my engagement ring off beforehand?

I was just going to have my wedding ring on as the 2nd ring, or just swap them round after the ceremony if your really fussed about which goes where lol x

I was wondering this too :) I think most people move their engagement ring to a different finger for the ceremony or at least thats what I' going to do as I don't feel comfortable taking it off completely. I'm not sure about the order of the rings but I think you're right xx

I put my engagement ring on my right hand then swapped it back to sit above my wedding ring while we were signing the register x

I had this same question, just tried my engagement ring on my right hand and it doesn't fit :/ Not sure what to do now, might give it to my maid of honour as her finger size is the same as mine.

I'm doing the same,wearing it on my right hand and then putting it on top of the wedding ring during signing. Saying this I have actually taken my engagement ring off and I'm not currently wearing it as its left a huge mark on my ring finger like a scar and had it off around 2 weeks, not wearing it until wedding now to let my finger heal and let the marks go so when he puts ring on my fingers it's not all marked where ring was also using sunbed on run upto wedding so I'll have it all even tanned :)

There is an older thread about this somewhere but not sure what it was called.
Generally most people either leave their engagement rings off or move it to the other hand for the ceremony then put it back after the ceremony.
It is up to you which order you have them in but generally you put it on top of your wedding ring :)

Mine also doesn't fit on my right hand! I'll be leaving it on and having my wedding ring put on on top of it. I don't understand why the wedding ring goes on first. I believe that my e-ring was there first so that's where it shall stay x

I was going to move mine to my right hand but then my lovely mammy offered me her blue topaz ring to wear as my 'something blue' so I'll probably give it to my matron of dishonour to have but she's such a dizzy mare I might never see it again!!! I've tried the wedding ring on with my engagement ring on top then got the jeweller to show me an eternity ring with them. Omg it looked stunning just hope h2b took the massive hint!!

I got my engagement ring cleaned and a week before the wedding and didn't wear it until I had my wedding ring on. I let my hubby collect it and keep it in it's original box all morning and through the ceremony, and after the ceremony we got some pictures of him putting it on my finger again. Hubby loved it as he said that it felt as though he was proposing all over again and couldn't stop looking at it all the time!

I'm not having my engagement ring on my left hand, I think it looks nice in photo's ect. when you have a naked finger to start with.... can't decide what I'll do with my engagement ring and whether I'll even put it back on that day or wait until the following day

I'm keeping mine on my left hand, and having the wedding ring put on top. As another user said above ^ the engagement ring was there first so it makes sense to add the wedding ring on top.

I will ask my dad to hold on to mine for me. I only plan on having it off me for a very short period of time so will take it off at the last minute as we stand at the gate to the garden suite at our venue and then get it back off him when we are all geting our pictures done xx
