I have a german shephard and 2 cats, the cats are sorted, they come and go as they please and a friend will be nipping in a couple of times a day to make sure they have enough food and water but what about the dog?
I have always used a very good kennel near us (good ones are hard to find) My collie used to love it there as they are normally very good BUT my boy "Buster" went there last October and I was very annoyed with the way he was treated! The kennel staff (apart from the owner) were hopeless with him, they were scared of him and basically let him dictate when he went in from exercise and allowed him to be dominant. he soon learned that if he bared his teeth they would leave him alone. Bearing in mind he was just 10 months old at this point and a very soppy puppy and never showed any sign of a vice. Makes me wonder why a kennel would employ staff that have a fear of a particular breed! His behaviour took a little while to turn round but we got there in the end and we have our soppy boy back but what on earth am I going to do with him now? I had provisionally booked him back into the kennels in October but cancelled that pretty quickly. All the other places around here have bad names. Kind of stuck now :-( btw I can fully understand a persons fear of a breed as I was attacked by a doberman when I was little but then I don't work at a kennel for that very same reason.

    Ok rant over lol x

this is why i fear kennels as we have a westie and dont want to leave him the 2 nights over the wedding. Someone on here mentioned looking at doggy sitters so you drop them off at their homes and they feed them the food you give them and take them for walks etc. Apparently they are normally employed as dog walkers that do this on the side.

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

we take our dog to a farm, who looks after them and dog sits rather than going in the kennels as i think our dog would just sit in the corner and waste awayin a kennel!

hmn.....the only problem is they would have to be experienced in Shephards. I was always told you have to handle them differently and that is something I never believed until I got my first one.....it's true! lol they are a completely different from any other dog (and there has been a few) I have ever had!
Yell.com here I come I think! lol Thanks for the suggestion suzky...didn't know that one! x
I was so annoyed though as they have always been so good with my collie. The kennel in question my parents used to use when I was little, I even did my school work experience there but got put off badly when a Doberman came in lol

humm, are there any kennels that specialise in that breed? a dog sitter is the only other thing i can think of too. that way you and your doggie can get to know them before hand x

think you need try a different kennels i work with police dogs (germann sheperds labs etc)it is strange that they treated him like that especially if he was only a pup and at 10 months old what on earth did they do to him to make him show his teeth we have sheperds of all ages and our pups that are around that age are daft like urs think i would try another kennels hun poor dog bless him xx
