This last year me and my mum have had the year from hell, literally, we have bad news after bad news and basically to cut a very very long story story, my dad is no longer in my life for very serious reasons i now refer to him as dead, my grandad died and basically my poor mum has pulled me through it all and continued to plough on with the wedding plans.

Shes now giving me away and i want something special i can give her to say thank you for all the hard work and show how much i love her, she doesnt wear jewellery and shes allergic to flowers, i wrote her a letter but i dont know what to give her, all ideas would be greatful. xxx

How lovely that you want to do something that little bit extra special for your mum. I think it's wonderful.
What about something similar to the 'grooms survival box', but for mum? For example somethign as simple as a stick of chewing gum, for 'sticking us together' and a pair of socks, 'to stop you getting cold feet'.
One of the things I put in Dave's box was a feather. His brother sadly died 4 years ago and on the day of the funeral two doves flew overhead and some of their feathers fell out. Now everytime Dave sees a feather, he's reminded of his brother. So, I popped in a feather 'for remembrance'.
Are there any special things like that, that you could pop in, maybe?

I was going to suggest a framed photo with the two of you together when you were younger to remind her of her little girl, then think of something she would find useful to give to her - my mum has helped us financially as well as making the cake for us, so we're going to give her a thank you bouquet with the MIL (who hasn't helped at all except advice) then the next day we're going to get her a new telly for her bedroom as we know she needs one!

I like the thought of the framed photo of you both when you were young and maybe you could put a poem on it too x

Im intending on buying my mum a tree - I dont like the idea of flowers as they dont last long enough so i thought of a tree
I'm thinking of an olive tree, but you can get rose trees, lavender bay trees or fruit trees

There are so many people out there who will tell you
    what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

The framed photo is a lovely idea. I need something for my mum too as she's helped so much with the organising. She's not a flowers type of lady. Love the idea of a star. :0) xx

    Can't wait to be married!
