We are giving ours bacon butties and chips x x
CommentAuthorLauraJo87
We are having a buffet, I think, mostly because the venue limits are options. Or maybe pie and peas.
Bacon buries and chips is a fab idea, personally so much gets wasted at buffets they do seem an unnecessary expense.
Hog roasts sometimes work out cheaper than buffets particularly if you just have meat joints rather than an actual pig xx

We're having a buffet and wedding cake, as our wedding breakfast will finish around 5.30, and our evening do is going on until 1/2am, so we figure that our day guests particularly might get hungry, and even our evening guests might if they stay until the end (evening do starts at 7.30pm).
I'd say what, and how much, you should provide depends on a few factors eg what time your day guests will be eating (could they get hungry between finishing eating, and the end of the night?), how long your evening do is (if it's from 8-12, your evening guests will ave had dinner before they come, and are unlikely to be hungry/need much, if anything to eat), and how far evening guests are travelling (if a lot of your guests have a long journey then obv they'll eat earlier at home, so might be peckish when they arrive). If your wedding breakfast finishes late-ish, and your evening do is only say 4 hours, I'd say that nibbles (crisps/nuts) would suffice if you're on a tight budget. Other cheaper options would be bacon butties (as above), or something like a selection of breads, cheeses, and cold meats. If like us you're having a big gap, and it's going to be quite a long night, you'll probably need to think about providing a buffet.

We are having a buffet but only because it was included in our package, so was cheap. x

We are having bacon rolls and mini chip cones followed by a sweetie/dessert buffet for dessert!
Still can't decide what to do for the day guests tho lol Its a choice of a 3 course meal with our cake as dessert OR a hog roast with a few salads and rolls etc to go with it and again our cake for dessert?????????
Wedding is November so really not sure

MrsRatcliffetobe - Ooooh I'd love that everyone loves jacket spuds shame it's not an option at our venue :-(
CommentAuthorMrsRatcliffetobe
Its not an option at mine either lol, Its on the buffet choice list and I just asked if instead of the sandwiches and quiche etc (children's party anyone?? lol) could I just have lots of jacket potatos with a good assortment of fillings including the beef chilli (which was our hot option). You'd be surprised what they will agree to when its saves the chef time lol x

This is what I'm struggling with as we're having a BBQ during the day too, but we're having everyone for the whole day, so no added evening guests so I'm wondering if we'll have to do any evening food? I'm hoping everyone will be too bladdered to worry about food. Or they can get a kebab on the way home lol xx

We are going a tad out of the norm, as we don't want a big sit down meal we are getting married at about 3pm then just having drinks, photos, and speeches then at about half 5 when evening guests turn up we are doing a BBQ for everybody!!! So simple and relaxed!!! And who doesn't like a BBQ LOL x
CommentAuthorKristina
As we are having the wedding at 3pm, we are going for the buffet for the guests as we arent having a sit down meal because of the time after photos and the ceremony.

Our evening venue is Revolution vodka bar, so our guests are have the platter they serve. It has mini fish & chips, mini burgers, pizza slices etc and a shot of our choice. It's £7.95 per guest.

ooooh love the idea of the fish and chips in the evening, yumm!!! xxxx

Thanks for the replies girls. This has been food for thought (excuse the pun). The venue originally said anything was possible and we could have our own caterers etc. however my brothers are opening up a shop (one bro is a chef) and they two of them wanted to do the catering just for the evening guests as a wedding present to save us money. But now the venue says it is not an option. I don't like any of their options and I'm seriously considering losing our £500 deposit to pic a venue who hasn't lied to us..... Such a dilemma :(

Oh I am so jealous of all of you having bacon butties and chip cones for the evening. Our venue offers an evening buffet of sandwiches and a few extras. They don't even allow us to provide our own food tables (except wedding cake and cup cakes). Asked them about having a cheese and cold meat table - yes, if they provide and (over)charge for it.
CommentAuthorMrsH-2B
We're having an evening buffet but its included in our venue price.. I didn't want to feed them either lol but H2B and my mum said that's rude haha.. My thing was that it starts at 8, surely they'll have had dinner before they come ! Lol xxx
