I'm in a bit of a pickle about my band here's the thing - please feel free to give your honest opinion.
The other day I received a facebook message from an old friend of mine - he's actually friends with one of my ex's, but doesn't really see him anymore, we all used to hang around together but I've not seen any of them for years. Well anyway this guy had bumped into a friend of mine who told him I'm getting married and he messaged me to say he now has a successful wedding band (him the drummer his wife the singer) and would offer me a substantial discount (mates rates). I know they're good because I've heard them do gigs in a band in the past. I do have a band but would only lose £50 deposit and I'm sure my friends band would save me way more. However H2B says no - he's not comfortable with this because of who the guy is and the part he played in my past - even though it was 8 years ago and he wasn't the one I went out with. I'm gutted cos this could save us hundreds! Do you think I should push it and try to convince him or leave well alone? Is it worth saving the money if he feels this way about it! On the other hand that could pay for other things! What u guys think!

its a toughie, but to be honest, if you like them get your h2b to listen to them or go see them, the past is the past! x

u think so? See I think so too but I wanted some impartial advice. I'm honestly not sure how I'd feel if someone from his past days with his ex was involved in our wedding but on the other hand I am trying to save every penny and like you say the past is the past!

think i would stick with what you have. if your h2b isnt happy then you have to listen to him. We all say it's our day but in truth it is his as well and if he isnt happy he should have a say. if it was me i would stick with the one i have
im not seeking attetion i just like everyone looking at me
im married
im now Mrs Dove
no more wedding planning LOL yer right

but its a wedding band, not as if you are asking them to be part of the wedding party! just ask him to have an open mind!
I'v started getting in touch with the old band people I knew through my ex. I'm a big girl and I realised a long time ago I shouldn't have been with my ex in the first place, I am still really good mates with his sister and talk civily and openly with his parents when ever I see them. The band members I have approached have been fine asking how I'm getting along and all that.
Personally I can't see it being a problem, however I know my mum wouldn't appreciate me booking her ex husband but that would never happen.
I'm now a married woman
I have a gorgeous husband
Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

its not just UR day.. its ur H2B's day also.... i would be upset if my H2B asked if one of his Ex Friends/Girlfriends could play at our wedding...
Save for the one you have......... :) xx

I'd stick with what you already have - you were happy when you picked them to begin with so other than "friend value band" what's changed?
The days are flying by, can't wait :)

I know! I don't care which band it is - I just want to save the money lol!! There is no emotional attachment involved at all! But I suppose we were prepared to pay this other band before I knew of this saving! Just wish I'd never been offered this lol! x

Yup i agree with the others. If your H2B isnt happy, then stick with your original band. You were both happy with it and it is your wedding day.
I know i wouldnt wanna remember the band at our wedding as being mates of Marks ex.......

Personally if my h2b didn't feel right about past history then I wouldn't want them just on that basis. It doesn't matter how much moeny it would save if it means he wouldn't enjoy the day then I wouldn't risk it.

i'd stick with your original band besides old ghosts trying to wriggle into your present on such a big scale... dodgy if u ask me what are his motives? Dunno what the history is but it just strikes all the wrong chordes xxx
