found out today that h2b's nan wont be attending the wedding as she's is unwell and vascular dementia and becomes aggressive around strangers so her daughters/sons thought it would be better for her and she also does not remember who people are too very sad but i can understand there reasons
what i'm asking is what kind of gift would you think would be appropriate to give? i want her to feel she is missed etc... without making her feel pushed out?
we are still sending an invitation to ensure she feels like we would love to have her at the wedding
If you're thinking of flowers, then fresias are really lovely and smell amazing too! They're also not very expensive Hx

Maybe you could make her some sort of special photo album from your wedding pictures? Flowers are a lovely idea too. :0) xx
Can't wait to be married!

What about making her up a wee box of things that will be used or featured at your wedding, for eg some confetti, a favour box/bag with contents, a flower pressed or a silk one, pic of bridesmaid dresses, copy of menu, etc so it would be a wee momenta/memories box for her. You could even have a picture on the front of the box of you and h2b.
Or wait til the wedding is over and make up a wee photo album for her. x

are you having the wedding filmed? if not perhaps even just ask a family member to film it (remember to ask venue in advance about permissions for filming as some may ask for an extra fee or may not even permit it - though judging by the reason why i cant see why they would say no) then both of you can visit her with the video so she can still have "been there"
or perhaps you have a tiny teeny weeny minute on your way from church/registry office to the reception and you can swing by to see her in all your wedding finery so she's still included?

she lives miles from the wedding unfortunately, and were not having it filmed but i might ask someone to film the ceremony out of our families... thanks for the idea xx

awww pity she lives so far but I'd say filming it would certainly have more sentimental value, especially seeing as you mentioned the reason is vascular dementia, she may not remember a lot of things but this would be something that she can sit down with to enjoy those moments and who knows if shes having a bad day watching it may jog her memory slightly

What about visiting her another day after your wedding day wearing your dress, tiara, etc and then get someone to take a pic of you and hubby with her so she has that to keep and would feel a bit more like she didn't miss out. Take a big piece of cake along with you too and have a wee tea party. xx

A video of your wedding with a special extra message from you and h2b saying 'sorry you couldn't be there, we all missed you and are very special to us' or something like that. Then she can watch it and show it to *everyone* who visits (if she's anything like my grandma lol) xx
We had to travel across the earth to find each other
We've never been apart since meeting almost 7years ago
And never will be!
I can't wait until he is my husband :D
