I bought my shoes from R C and had them dyed to match my dress (pics on my profile- they're the red ones). They're really lovely and they were comfortable when I tried them on initially (when they were white). As some of you may know, when you dye things- especially shoes- the fabric becomes much stiffer. As a result, the shoes are rather tight now and not particularly comfortable.
I've tried wearing them in and stretching them out by wearing socks with them around the house, but I'm starting to worry that I won't be able to wear them all day. I'm changing into ballroom shoes in the evening but since the daytime will involve more standing, I'm getting concerned.
I've seen a pair of silver shoes in BHS that I really like and are quite comfortable BUT my mum did pay nearly £90 for these shoes and getting them custom dyed. On top of that, I can't really sell them on as I've worn them in and attempted to stretch them out. My mum isn't too happy about me buying a new pair of shoes but my sister thinks I should, so have no swing vote there.

I can't wear the ballroom shoes during the day as the soles are soft leather designed for dancing indoors. I'll be outside for most of the day and I'd ruin them.

I'd buy the other ones, but wear the red ones for the ceremony and have the new ones at hand incase they get too uncomfortable. (Not literally in your hands though, maybe in a car or at the reception venue.)

I ve added a po;; for you babe as i think its needed here.........hope you dont mind!
As for what you should do, well persoanally i would do BOTH! Continue to stretch out the pair you have but Buy the other pair as well! That way if they are not comfortable come the day you have a back up pair..........and if they are, well bonus! with only two months to go you cant put off finding another pair for much longer tho. Maybe if you dont wear them you could send them back??
All depends on your budget tho babe!

in experience........there is NOTHING worse than uncomfortable painful shoes and sore feet..puts a real dampner on your day!...i would do what Hails says...but the other pair anyway...they would probably be handy for other occasions too, wear the red ones for the ceremony and photo's or as long as you are ok in them...then just descretely change them when they become too much. xxx
i would have ti agree with hails, keep trying to stretch them out, but have the other shoes on hand too. it is your wedding day and the last thing you need to be worrying about is painful feet!!
lesson learned ladies, if we are planning on dyeing our shoes, buy a size bigger ;) x

I could not vote both! I would continue stretching but buy the others too. They have a 28 day returns policy and if they stretch in the meantime great and if not you have a back up plan. Have you considered a wooden shoe strtcher rather than trying to wear them in?

yeah id think i'd buy th other pair too just in case you could always sell them on if they dont get used hun xx

it may just be me but ive had a look at the red ones and despite the fact they look gorgeous they do look a little tight from the pic. You need to be comfy if wearing them all day. You can always keep stretching them out and wear them on another occasion like a rehearsal dinner or something where you would mainly be sitting so it wotn matter as much.

CommentAuthorRosie
Hi have you tried putting wet newspaper in them that is ment to help strech them and softin the material again but if that dosnt work i would just buy new ones there is nothing worse than sore feet xx
CommentAuthorKaya
Continue to stretch and hope they'll be ok, but buy the other pair, just incase, and if you don't wear the other pair, you can just take the back afterwards x
Now Mrs Cobb!!!!!! :-D

as you still got a couple of months i'd keep an eye on the other shoes but continue to try stretching the red ones out. when you get nearer the day then you can decide if you need the others or if you'd be comfortable in the red ones :) xxx

The wet newspaper trick is where you put wet newspaper into a pair of tights (to stop the print transferring) Leave to dry out then remove the paper and they should have stretched :-)

I was MOH for mate last year and needed to stretch shoes, were strappy silver dune shoes. I wore 2 pairs of socks and 1 really thick hiking socks and I wore them twice when I was ironing. I wore the shoes for over 12 hours on day of wedding, didn't take them off, they were a little sore but i didnt have any blisters by the end of it. xx
CommentAuthorAbbey
I agree with Hails. They are gorgeous shoes but I'd keep stretching and buy the back ups. If you don't end up using the backups you can sell those on later xx

Thanks ladies
I already have a pair of shoes for the evening, so would end up with one pair too many. But the other shoes were only £23ish, so I have room in my budget for them... could get them as well. Mum won't be pleased but I guess its better to have a slightly irritated parent than being unable to walk for a while. Especially when I'll be off to Italy and France a few days after.
I didn't realise they could be stretched by a professional. They're already wide fit (although bridal shoemakers do seem to have a skewed idea of wide fit) but I might look into that.
::edit::
Just checked the website and found the shoes are reduced to £16 in the sale! Must be a sign surely!

i have read in a mag of another way of streaching shoes but never tried it, you fill a bag full of water and put it inside the shoe them put them in the freezer so the water freezes in the shoe and it streaches the shoe so while its still frozen it wil still be streaching it xx
CommentAuthorNishaVyas88
I'd do that if there were room in the freezer- my mum has two and they're both stuffed! lol!
