right girls i need some sound advice.

i got the girls dresses back a couple of weeks ago and none of them fit they are all 1 dress size out. they lady in the shop is trying to say they have all gained weight the biggest being my sister and she is really really upset to the fact she doesnt want to be a bridesmaid anymore.
now when they got measured in november they were measured and none had any weight issues really. my sister had lost most of her baby weight. my cousins are rakes anyway and my sil2b was losing weight cos her new classes at her centre she goes to. so in my eyes the girls were all fine and their weight was going down like they wanted. (in my eyes they are perfect but everyone has a wee thing dont they?)

so we went along and none of them would zip up. the bodices are a full dress size up. my cousins have been training for charity runs and lost weight sister is now down to her normal size and sil2b has lost half a stone because of her health diets and exercise classes so we cant understand how they have went up sizes. at the time the lady said we will sort it so does this mean i have to pay for the mistake as it looks like the wrong measurements have been taken as there is no way any of them have gained. can anyone givr me advice on this what i should do or say? they said they will do corset backs for all the girls which is fine but it its going to be expensive i might not have any bm at our wedding and after paying a grand for the four of them it will be a slap in the face for mil since she paid for them. im gong to the shop on saturday, can anyone help, please? xx

Hmmm if one was out maybe but for all of them to be too small there is definitely something wrong with the dress making.
If was you I would ask them to measures the girls again and compare them with what they measured last time. That way if the measurements match you have some kind of proof that they have not put weight on and it is an error on their part.
    Best of luck

Sounds very suspicious that they are all to small and they stand to make more money by altering them. Sounds like they cocked up and are trying to get you to pay for it. I would contest this, like suzyb said compare the measurements if they are all out by the same number of inches I would find this very strange indeed.

she remeasured them there and then that day cos as i said my sister is really really upset and it all seems to be across the bust. now i know the girls were finishing or starting their "wooshie" as sil2b calls it but surely a bust doesnt go up almost 5 inches as one of the girls seem to be. one was 3 inches up the other 2 were 5 or 6 inches up but the skirts fit perfectly. mil2b is raging, im upset cos sister is upset and im not good at confronting so i dont know what to say or do. it works out as a full dress size according to the lady in the shop.

it sounds like they were measured wrong in the first place hun, and i would put that suggestion to the shop. 5 inches is a massive difference - you'd be able to see a weight gain equating to 5 inches on anybody and if they all look slimmer then I'd argue that they were measured incorrectly to begin with xxx

If it were one you could understand but as its all of them they have either been measured incorrectly or they havent ordered the dress to fit the biggest part
Is there anyone who could go with you for moral support?

Have you paid for the dresses yet? I wouldnt until it is sorted (if that is possible). They must have measured it wrong, what are the chances of all of them going up by a full dress size, not likely. Stand up for yourself. If they dont sort it for free I would threaten some serious naking and shaming in the local press.

it deffintly sounds like they were measured wrong not all there busts size would have gone up especially if they are all try to lose weight. i would deffintly say her measurements were wrong and i wouldn't be wanting to pay for their mistake.

Hopefully when you get there she'll admit it's their mistake and put the corset back in without charge, if she asks for payment just stand your ground and say that the mistake is in the make up of the dresses as they are all wrong and you expect her to carry the cost. Good luck with it.

I have been a bridesmaid 3 times and never has my dress fitted, i have had to have them all altered, which the bride has had to pay for, stayed the same size/shape just never fitted. I always said at the time the dress doesnt fit but always got the response 'you must of lost/put on weight' when i said i hadnt the ladies in the shops always got snotty!

I think its just one of those things unfortunalty, bridesmaid dresses are stupid sizes and never fit properly, they almost always need altering!

I hope you can get this sorted hun. I wouldnt stand for it at all, sounds like a money making scam to me! If you havent already paid for the dresses then i would go somewhere else! Dont let them get you down, stand up to them, you are in the right! I am slimming and like most women have found that the weight goes off my bust first so how cold they have all grown bigger boobs? madness! Tell her straight, its not fair that she has upset your bms like this and should definatley be named and shamed! If you have already paid, insist she fixes them for free or you will go to consumers rights and demand a refund.

    Good Luck!! :)

unfortunately katg they asked for the dresses to be paid as soon as they came in. apparently its the accountant thats makes them ask for payment. im going in tomorrow as i need to try my new hoop with my dress and my sister is coming with me. her dress was the worst outcome and shes better at these things than me. i think she feels better as shes gonna give the shop a good going over or threaten with trading standards. i mean all 4 dresses dont fit? 1 girl is very fit as she runs marathons so she hasnt put weight on. my sister has went down 2 sizes since she was measured as it was all baby weight. 1 girl is on a medically rationed diet cos of health issues and she hasnt put weight on. ( i asked her mum as she has to keep on top of her weight) and the other girl is just the same a typical size 8 hasnt gained or lost.

caroline fair point but every girls dress doesnt fit and all 1 dress too small? no sorry maybe a couple of inches but not a full dress size.

They have obviously measured or ordered wrong! The dresses should always be ordered to fit the biggest measurement, and in this case that obviously hasn't happened! Shops will only order in sizes, not in measurements, so that they always get money from alterations, this is just how it works, BUT they shouldn't need to be made bigger if the bridesmaids have not put on weight, they would need to be made smaller! I am MOH for my best friend next year and my bust measurement equalled a size 12, but the rest was an 8, so they had to order a 12 and then will take in the rest. I would refuse to pay for their mistakes if I were you! xxx

ok so i went into put my dress on today with a new hoop and sort out the mess with the bm dresses and they agreed to sort them for free, so i dont have to pay anything plus they will sort my gown for nothing too since i was upset about and they dont want to get a bad rep.

so after all that worrying its been fixed and shes given me a note as proof and its on my file.

    soooooo relieved xxx
