I know traditionally the top table is mixed so for example, the brides mum sitting next to the grooms dad. I just wondered how many people still follow this. I'm not sure what to do.

We are having a sweetheart table, so just me and OH, mainly because top table would cause too many arguments, but I think with so many people being remarried etc, people just sit the wedding party wherever they like. Some even just have BM's and best man on top table x

We never had a traditional top table, we have seven kids between us so it was us and our children.

We're not following the tradition. We are having both sets of parents on the top table but I think we're having them sat in their relevant "pairs" (even though both sets are divorced and re-married/re-partnered!). So thinking my mum, my dad, me, OH, FIL, MIL and best man. Not having a MOH so want all my bridesmaids to sit together.

We are going to have our tables in a 'U' shape, so 2 long tables coming off the top table, so we will seat step parents/partners close to the top table x

Our top table is just a few of the bridal party my bms and the best man and us and our little flower girl as oh's parents aren't coming and mine are divorced so they'll be hosting their separate tables. Plus we are only having 40 so having a big top table means there will be hardly any other tables!

We won't be having parents at our top table, as neither of us have a good relationship with our mum's so to save stress we will have us, my bridesmaids and his groomsmen on the top table and two family tables (his on one mine on the other) closest to the top table

We are probably going to have both sets of parents sat together. The top table will consist of my mum, my dad, me, oh, mil, fil, best man and his partner as she won't know anyone else but him and us so though it would be nice to have her sat next to him.

We were thinking of having it the traditonal way but are now thinking maybe just have MOH, my mum, my dad, me, OH, MIL, MIL's partner and then BM - He has a bigger family then me so the front 2 tables closest will have my brother, 3 BM's, 1 niceces and MIL's partner children on my side of the room then his uncles/aunies/nan etc on the other front table xx

As both parents his side are divorced and new partners, but they get on its great! However my mum is divorced and married my step dad who EVERYONE hates except my mum, he is sitting on the top table.

we've had a lot of arguments also as he has 3 best men and I only have one adult MOH, the BM is 10 and flower girls 4 and 2 so tricky one! But having it like this....

Junior BM, MOH, my stepdad, My mum, Bride, groom, MIL, FIL, BM, BM

As the 3rd best man has 2 young kids he is on one of the closest tables to the top table.

We're having the wedding party with us, aside from the MOH (my elder sister) who's likely going to be with our parents so she can sit with her partner.
If family numbers make the seating chart awkward, we'll be switching to a sweetheart table and mixing the wedding party in with various family.

I am so not sure what to do but it wont be traditional!

My H2B's both parents have passed away, at the moment I am not getting on with my mum and although I know she will be at my wedding so she will be at the top table but I cant stand her partner and he isn't invited but even if he was I wouldn't have him at my top table.

So I am thinking to have my MOH and bridesmaids, best man, mum, gran and my gran and granddad and us! not sure what order though lol or ill go for sweetheart table xx

I would have liked to do it the traditional way where they are mixed, so after considering it I realised my dad and MIL, and stepmam and FIL don't real,y have that much to talk about between them so just keeping it in with their pair.

    We're having
BM2, MIL, FIL, groom, bride, dad, stepmam, BM1 (can't remember which way round in laws are without looking at it lol)

Since my family is not English and are not great speakers of the language, We decided on having both sets of parents together with theirs pairs. Also, my MoH is my FBIL's fiancee, and I don't know who is gonna be the Best Man. So, to avoid having my MoH bored by our side on the top table, we are just having the both sets of parents and ourselves.

    FIL - MIL - H2B - ME - DAD - MUM

I'm not sure what we are having yet, but only have mil as fil sadly passed so will most likely just sit her next to best man and then sit my parents together and give the moh an option so she can either sit at top table or can sit on table with her oh n daughter as do t see point in making her sit next to someone she doesn't know when her little girl is sat at a different table. Plus will likely have our daughters next to us too x

We didn't do the traditional long top table as in my culture round is traditional with only immediate family on it.

So we had hubby, me, my dad, my mum, my sister (MOH), my BIL, niece, SIL, other niece (our FG), SIL husband, FIL girlfriend because we couldn't leave her out and FIL.

Funny how people feel or expect to be sat on the top table.

When I told SIL she and her hubby and 2 girls would be on the top table she was so shocked as she didn't expect it lol. Was nice telling her.
