I can't decide what to walk down the 'aisle' to, I'll only be walking into a small room so only need a short piece of music.
I'm a big Metallica fan and love the idea of a short, instrumental piece, nothing too heavy but a bit rock-y (maybe bit from Call of Ktulu or Orion) but think something classical would prob fit the whole day better. I like Pachelbel's Canon in D Major, but this seems a very popular choice!
What are you all going for? C x

That's exactly what I'm having. the modern version, it's perfect, classy... even if it is very popular, it builds up perfectly and is also seen as acceptable at the chapel which is always handy :) x

I love metallica! We're having nothing else matters for our first dance :) We're having a qaurtet but they're practicing some more heavy/rock type stuff that sounds amazing on strings! I heard them do some bon jovi and guns and roses stuff earlier and it was fantastic! Metallica is next on their list, I sooooo can't wait to hear it lol x

That sounds perfect ClareE! Amazing. I love 'Nothing Else Matters' but sister in law had it for her first dance. Did think about 'November Rain' but the fact that the bride dies in the video put me off a bit!! lol.
That's a lovely choice RaggedyAnne, a bit different too! Nice. I think you're right Jill, it does work very nicely!

Anne after seeing songbird mentioned on here somewhere I was absolutely set on having Songbird as our first dance, it's a bit of a touchy subject just now though as I keep changing my mind after saying to h2b he could choose it, so h2b doesnt want to discuss it anymore until closer to the time when I'll have less time to overthink it lol we have however been talking about it tonight and both angling towards etta james at last for 1st dance now... tbc... lol x

I'd love to have nothing else matters to walk down the aisle to, but I'd want to listen to the whole song and even if i make everyone else go first I'd still have time left. I'd end up making everyone wait until the end of the song before I make my entrance lol x

I really wanted the butterfly waltz, but then was told by the venue that it only takes 12 seconds for the bridal party to get down the aisle! haha! So was back to the drawing board and had to pick a chorus of a song instead :o)

Sara, my aisle is really short too, but the song I've chosen it split up into short verses. I'm playing the first verse, then sending a bridesmaid a verse after that, then I'm going down. So by the time I reach the end about 90 seconds will have been played!

clbronze, Have you ever heard the apocalyptica version of nothing else matters? its beautiful, they are a four piece cello rock band, who mainly play Matalica, and its perfect for walking down the aisle to. My friends had it at their wedding, its very classical, so sets the mood, but as its a song you both know, will mean something more to you :) x

Oh, I just thought we'd play the song (approx 3 mins), walk in one by one (me and seven BM's), then wait for the song to finish. Hmmm, now I'm wondering if it's too long! xx

Have you ever heard any of vitamin string quartets stuff? They did a Metallica album a few years ago, you might be able to find something on that.

I think I'm going to be walking in to the bridal march by Jonathan Cain because its sort of the traditional tune but with a twist, its gorgeous!

Vitamin do loads don't they! I popped them into u tube and they cover soo many songs, and they can sell their musical arrangements too! The quartet I'm having haven't covered my song yet so as a gift the lead violinist, who is a friend from work, is going to pay for a copy of their arrangement and get the practice in as a present for us :) why can't I know lots more people in other supplier areas lol
