So h2b is a mechanic and doesn't want to spend too much on his wedding ring as it'll get scratched etc. Mine will be a shaped, stone set band and made to fit around my engagement ring at a cost of £400.
He said he wants a brushed titanium ring which costs 70 quid but they won't be matching at all.
Which metal have you all gone for and anyone decided on titanium? Xx

My H2B has decided to go for a titanium ring as that's what he likes. It doesn't match mine, but I'm not really bothered about them matching.

I'm not fussed about them being matching as we have different tastes but they all look sooo massive and chunky lol xx

We havn't decided on our rings yet, but from conversations that we've had I don't think our rings are going to match. X

My oh works with his hands to so he has picked out a lovely titanium one. It has some brushed detail but is mostly polished so matches my ering. But that was just fluke! As long as he like it that all that matters, ring are to remind you of your vows, they dont have to match!
My h2b has chosen a tungsten ring. He won't be wearing his on a daily basis as it would get damaged at work so it will mostly be for the wedding day and maybe occasions when we go out together. I think it's only about £99 and he really likes it, also means I get to spend more on my ring

Originally my H2B said this but he's decided with a rose gold to match the watch I got him for our engagement and to echo themes of Russia.
Also I bought him a Titanium and silver ring a few years ago and it's got pretty scuffed... not deep scratches but its dulled a bit... hes probs best of with a very low carat gold!
And we lived happily ever after!

i have had platinum and my fella has had polished tungsten , really hard wearing and actually doesn't look that different to mine, especially when you consider there is £1000 price difference ! xx

I think both of us might just get a plain wedding band - I already have a white gold engagement ring with three diamonds which is gorgeous. I know he wants something relatively plain for him though.

OH is having a 5 or 6 mm (undecided atm) polished palladium court-shaped band, and I'm having a platinum and pave-set diamond band shaped to fit around my engagement ring. But, I'm also having a plain 2mm polished palladium band, which will match OH's, and which I'll wear when it isn't appropriate to wear my set (eg doing certain activities like snorkelling/scuba diving, visiting certain places, etc). My plain one is only costing £100 so I figured I might as well, and I plan on using that one during the ceremony so that the rings match in the pictures :-)

Ours aren't going to match; if he likes it then that's fine. :)

We're going with palladium medium court 5mm plain band for my H2B and mine is a plain platinum 2mm heavy court band. I'm not allowed stones for work, my engagement ring is quite big so it would look too much. I am hoping for a bling eternity ring one day which I would wear out of work and will be split from engagement ring with plain wedding band.

My h2b is having palladium as he has a heavy duty ring scratching job too Jewellers suggested it saying it was hard wearing I'm going white gold to match my other rings as already have an eternity ring as never thought we'd get married x

My engagement ring and wedding band are both platinum, the wedding band is diamond set to match the engagement ring. Hubby's wedding band is a plain white gold one so they don't match.
I hear of lots now going for palladium or titanium rings, especially those guys who have manual jobs and use their hands a lot at work so don't want to scratch something really expensive x

We bought our rings this week. H2b was convinced he wanted a 9ct white gold band as he was sure it wouldnt get damaged and it would be stronger. (I have no idea why hes so bothered cos unlike your other half he is no mechanic hes a teacher!!!!!) anyway we had a good look around a few jewellers and eventually we went to DMR where we discussed what we wanted with the lovely lady there. I was always going to have platinum because my engagement ring is platinum and apparantly if you put a white gold one next to it, the platinum with rub away at the gold.
Aaanyway, h2b was sure he wanted this 100 9ct gold ring, lady patiently explained that platinum was obv a lot stronger would last a lot longer. Originally my ring was budgeted for around six times the amount his was and we ended up walking away with his being twice the price of mine. Both came in 200 under budget though so I was so pleased!
For me, I would rather pay now for a metal that is going to last. After all these rings are a sign of our commitment to each other and mean a lot to me. I suspect if he had gone for the white gold as planned, the ring wouldn't have lasted and if we ended up with broken rings To me that would be a bad omen.
The other thing that is good about platinum is that it can be polished to ease off those scratches. I was super happy when she offered me a free polish and clean of mine when I went in, even though the engagement ring wasnt from there.

I collected my engagement ring yesterday (have put a pic in album), we chose palladium for both my engagement ring and wedding band, id never heard of it but H2B had x
CommentAuthorMrsLowe
Both my ring are white gold but my engagement ring i'm changing for my birthday in Jan as it keeps getting tarnished and having to get it re plated all the time :( so i'm getting a stunning palladium one i've picked out :)
Hubbie's wedding ring is white gold and a plain band, but having to replace that to now as his allergic to it, i'm also getting him a palladium ring which is hypo-allergenic and costs £175
I really suggest thinking about what metals you get your rings as it's cost us a lot to replace x

I'm 18c white gold engagement ring and plan the same for wedding ring (although i'm tempted to get platinum).
H2B will be getting a palladium, but he's a butcher and won't have it on in work anyway. Haven't even started looking for the wedding rings yet. x
