hi our wedding is at the end of july,
we are having slow roast belly of pork on creamy mash potatoes drizzled in cider & apple gravy with seasonal veg

or french style lamb cutlets on colcannon potatoes with blackberry & barley gravy with seasonal veg as the adults choices

but i can not think what to do for the 7family children that are coming......

i dont want to go along with chips etc for them

i am thinking along lines of a roast but it summer so not sure if be to heavy for that time of year, or just doing sausage mash and onion gravy but worry that mayb a bit basic? especially as some are coming all way from Scotland to SW England

what have you all done?? suggestions please

Our venue do an option for the kids. They can either have half a portion of the adults meals or chicken nuggets chips and beans. Its up to the parents then if they want to give them something healthy or not.

My kids menu is a choice of either chicken nuggets & chips and ice cream, tomato pasta, or a child's portion of the main meal (beef carvery).

our venue's childrens meal is chicken nuggets, chips and beans followed by ice cream - not ideal but we only have one child anyway so not too big an issue xx

    yeah not long to go..........
my venue is willing to do anything i want looked at few places before this one n this place just blew the others out of the water, normally mention word wedding and price goes up not here. one place i went to wanted £14.50 per bottle of wine this place same brand wine £8.55 food cost was good £10 a head cheaper. when we were sat there open mouth they were is there a problem and we were like are you quoting right prices and she was yes why and we explained other prices we had and she was just like no need to be greedy a big party needs less attention than general diners in the restaurant.

we want going to argue with her lol also allowed us to order all wine etc in December so we have beat the vat increase budget price rise etc

    happy days

our venue let us order in dec aswell for the same reason. saved quite a lot of money!

how many children have you got? if it isnt many why dont you speak to the parents and see what they say? otherwise depending on how old they are have a smaller portion of the main dinner

i going for separate meal as you know what kids are like they will want what the person next to them has if it different

i having to do downsized meals for grandparents as they wont be able to eat half of the portion size that is dished up

if you are having a 3 course meal, maybe give them different starter and pudding to suit them more and then the same for main. that way they will still feel special but enjoy it

i refuse to pay 100 for a meal he wont eat so he is having the 16.50 childrens menu. Its basic i.e. chicken nuggets, burger, hot dog etc but tough. I can have a mini version of adult meal but thats still 40 odd quid and hes fussy and will only eat the meat and pots anyways so im not bothering. If his mum winges, she can pay the difference for something I know he will leave on the plate. They are kids, the more basic the better. I think the sauaage and mash will be appreciate by them.
