Its so true about the budget. My friend's wedding was one of the best that I have been to because of the emotions on the day and the people that were there. It has nothing to do with how much money you spent on they day. I could have spent more than we have no doubt about it but it wouldn't have made our day any better and I can't justify spending more money just for the sake of it when we can use it to buy a bigger house or go on more holidays. Your wedding should be about having the day how you want it and no one will sit there working out how good a time they are having by how much you have spent on the favours etc.

I'm actually shocked at how much I've changed my mind since getting engaged I thought I'd want a big princess wedding with like a 15k budget but now I just want to save money where I can slash the budget and get married sooner. I think were going to manage 4.5-5k Inc honeymoon. I'm just looking at cheaper venues closer to home and giving it the personal touch rather then letting some wedding co-ordinator have all the fun. My htb is going yo come in handy with his haggling skills lol.

I think the other ladies have hit the nail on the head hun.... there are ways to save money and at the end of the day just have what you can afford! There are bargains to be had for sure! Our budget is £15000 but £10000 of that is on the venue, food and drink but we're happy to pay that and luckly have a fab family who are helping us out loads! Also already managing to make savings I've got the bm dresses for bargain price xx

Even if you have a large budget, you can still use the 'budget' tips. I'll be making our invites (based very roughly on a mixture of the samples I was sent), which saves enough money for me to get chair covers - it's all a balancing act, which can be both stressful and exciting when you find/source a bargain.

There I was, panicking that my £10,000 budget is not going to be enough, and you girls have given me inspiration. Thank you! I am now certain I can have a beautiful, perfect wedding without having to spend loads and loads. I have only booked the venue (with food and entertainment = £5k), the dress and veil (£1k) and the bridesmaids dresses (£320 for 2 dresses) and have budgeted £1k for the photographer. I got engaged about 6 weeks ago, so have not had any idea what the 'normal' budget for a wedding is, so knowing it can be as little as £1k or as much as £100k has helped loads. Thank you! :)

We had set an £8,000 budget.. My mum is paying for our venue and my dress which will be near £6500 I'd imagine, and we're saving £5000 minimum ourselves.. So It turns out to be £11,500... But I'm hoping I have over estimated some things cause at the moment we wont be having a honeymoon :-( xxx

Ours is around £18.5k but with our quotes (so far) its coming in at £16.5 with a just a cake quote to go. We purposely over budgeted and even our wedding cake I don't think will be as much as what we have put down. However, combined our parents are helping us out with £4K and my mum has paid for my dress. Also, we started to save for our Wedding a good 20months prior to our Wedding date so is realistic for us. It also helped that we had a very nice Xmas present/inheritance which has pretty much paid for EVERYTHING we wanted to include at our venue.

This does not include our honeymoon. For this we are looking at £5-6K.

Our budget is £15k and we've spent £12k so far.... However our venue and food bill comes to just under £9k on its own as we have a venue hire bill of £5k which does include the cost of a wedding planner,DJ, wish tree, all the decorating, place names/table plan, card box etc... We have about £7.5k left to save ourselves as we've paid £4k off already, h2b's parents are giving us £2.5k and buying the cake,my dad has bought my dress, bridesmaids are buying their own dresses...all these costs have been included in the budget so less to actually save ourselves... My Nanna is also giving us a little something, about £200 towards flowers :-)

If we hadn't had received what we did at Xmas ours would be much more low key lol.

Our Venue with ceremony, exclusive use, 3 course meal, buffet, canapés, drink package, Wedding planner, linen and crockery etc, ALL 15 bedrooms plus private bridal suite, breakfast the next morning for all guests, In house flowers and staff is £11K and that's good for round here!!

It just means we don't have to compromise lol. Doesn't help that we have quite a large number of day guests due to my HUGE family and our bridal party is quite large also. We have only spent about £2K so most of the budgets/quotes aren't yet official so it could actually cost us less but that's the amount we can go up to.

I know of people near where I live spending about £30K and that's just the Wedding!!!

We are trying to keep the venue, catering and drinks to under 6,000. and then there's extras, but i am trying to make mose of the things myself to make it a bit cheaper. My mum is doing the cake, our photographer friends are doing the photos, making favours, invitations myself. We're not count the Honemoon in the budget, that is up to H2B while the little details of the wedding is mine responsability. We are very lucky that we have very supportive families.

30k Is a lot of money, i could get a deposit on a house for that ;)

I have no idea now how much it's costing I think we were looking at about 5k but I know it's gone over by about 2k.

We've got a spreadsheet with all the costs of everything and what we've paid for, I haven't had a look at it for a while though so might have a look at it when it comes to paying final bills to see how much we ended up spending.

Ours is coming in at just over £10,000 at the moment minus the honeymoon (probably looking around £12,500 - £13,000 with it) but we do have 150 day guests and 200 night ones and are having a 3 course sit down meal so that is where the majority of it has gone! My friend is getting married this year though and has pretty much the same as us but with only 80 day guests and 100 evening guests and hers is at £22,000! But I am doing a lot myself to keep the costs down. Weddings can cost as much as you like, but to be honest, we couldn't do ours for any less than £10,000 with the amount of guests we have! xxx
