I finished up spending £500 but that includes all alterations. I hadn't planned to spend that much (maybe £300/£400 at the most) - but I don't suppose it's too much considering the alterations are included. It still seems a lot for something I'll only wear once though.

I dint have a budget, mum said whichever you love we wont worry about the price, but deep down knew i dint want to spend a fortune. So i chose my dress and was pleasantly suprised when it was £690, however having paid half, in October recieved a letter to say the shop had gone bust :( and i had lost my dress.

After all that i changed my mind completely picked myself back up and went and tried on loads. Found one i loved more :) It cost £1150 :( but well worth it. :) xx

Is now happily married to my gorgeous man

I didn't have a budget (I'm a very lucky girly) but the dress I fell in love with was £950. I got it down to £850 with £100 worth of fittings or accessories which I didn't think was too bad. I'm going to use the money for the fittings etc though as I got my veil and other bits from ebay for a song!

I would say you go and try dresses on and then find out how much the one is. You can then ring around shops to see who has the best price for it and if its still over budget then try second hand or china. There is always a way. You just have to know which is the right dress for you.

i think your dress budget is supposed to be a months wages - just as the engagement ring is supposed to me a month of the man's wages. i budgeted about £1085, but got my dress for £790 as the shop had launched the new range the week before, so they discounted my dress. i'm really pleased. it's discontinued now -so there won't be any others. they threw in a hoop for free, and i got the last remaining of the tiaras i liked - so that was half price too!

I getting my dress made for me by a friend of my sisters. She's a student just now but has already won some award judged by Ian Stuart for another wedding dress she designed and made. I only have to pay for the material so will be £200-£400 depending on what material I choose.

My dress was 1300 and then had to pay extra for the hoop and veil and alterations package, it was the most expensive in the shop! I knew it was "the one" but there was no way I could afford it so I was taking the dress off in the changing room feeling very deflated, then I came back out to find my mum at the desk paying for it!

mrs clarke 2b keep an eye out for any offers... you will find that the dress you love will keep changing in price subject to offers so keep waiting and keep an eye on it. Berkertex do a lot of those... offers on for 3 days only though but normally they are repeated. Just keep an eye on the websites.

i never had a budget for my dress, when i looked at them i would avoid the price tags etc and just concentrate on what i liked in the dress, the only thing i have not budgeted for, i found the perfect dress and proper princessy and very girly girl like me, only thing it did not match in my list of things i wanted was a strap up back, instead it had a zip, well the price and in the sale aswell was £250 it is costing me an extra £35 to get the back done lace up style. I put the deposit down on it tomorrow, i cant wait am so excited now xXx
