We started off with thinking the whole wedding would cost between 3-4k including honeymoon...its looking more like 5/6k now lol it shouldnt be anymore than 6k..and we're only getting married in a registry office, 50 day guests for a sitdown meal and 80(ish) evening guests... I got a dress from a wedding outlet for £399...so cant imagine how our budget would look if I had got a dress from a bridal shop..so even though we've skimped on some costs...it still all adds up quick!

Hi Cora, Im lucky enough to have a large budget (18k) but trust me, it still disappears just as quick!! We have church, venue, photographer, Videographer, band and wedding and bridesmaids dresses done. Thinking I might scrap the honeymoon tho as we're only just back from a once in a lifetime hol (booked before we got engaged) and we're getting married less than 12 months after that. Still saving where we can though - having a Friday wedding, making invites/stationary/favours and getting cake from the Spencers of Marks!! x

Ours started at about five k, think will probably under up going a grand over, but we should still be able to manage it without too much of a struggle on the savings front.

We've booked the venue, registrar, photographer and band. Got centrepieces and lowers sorted,

Next thing is invites and finding the dress! Xx

I thought i cud do it cheapby going abroad (which it is) its just the reception which is crippling us financially! I mean 1000 4 a buffet??? and 1600 4 a band??? Aghhhhhhh ( thank goodness I wont be paying 4 my drinks)lol

Our budget is £7500, we're having a church ceremony and a relaxed festival feel reception in a marquee, including bouncy castle too.
Not much booked at all, need to get a wriggle on.

We probably did the wong thing and never set a budget. My Nan had cancer at the time we got engaged but wasnt poorly with it at the time so we set our wedding for 18mths. We knew we wouldn't be able to save enough in that time, but because we wanted my nan to be at the wedding a lot of family have chipped in especially my parents.
Everything is sorted, church -£700, reception £4000, flowers £700, cake £400, rings 1500, venue dressing room £500, dress £1000, bridesmaids dresses x 3 £600, suit hire x 6 £500, stationery £400, sweet cart £150, photographer £1400, hair and make up £300, car £600 and honeymoon £2400. We are having a smallish wedding 50 in day and 80 at night.
All this adds up to £15000 which really surprised me, thought it would be a lot less as not a massive wedding.
After booking everything my nan started to become really unwell with the cancer and sadly passed away. I am so upset that she will not be at the wedding, she had her funeral and is buried at the church where we are getting married so at least she will be with us on the wedding. X

Ours is about £19-20k excluding the honeymoon.

So far we've booked the venue, and I've bought my dress and shoes. I think we've also found our photographer and cake, but will book them in Feb, 18 months before. Also going to start making my STDs and invites around Feb time, as it'll probably take ages and I don't want to feel rushed/stressed. The rings we'll probably get about 6 months before so we have time to save (they're one of the few things we're paying for ourselves)
