I'm very unclear of all the things and thoughts that go into planning your wedding so it's a good thing I have loads of time to get my head around this...
Do I get a present for my H2B? I know I have to get the bridesmaids a little gift, BM, Usher and mob/mog but I didn't know we got each other gifts? Is that right or wrong?

Hey, I am a bit like yourself, I didnt realise that we had to buy each other gifts. Me and H2B are so skint that we've agreed to get just wee gifts for each other. I am going to get him a couple of wee things that he can keep - one of the will be a silver engraved plectrum (cos he plays guitar) and possibly a pocket watch

Normally i think the groom gives the bride her jewlerry on her wedding day and the bride buys something too like cufflinks. We arent being too traditional as i want to choose my own jewlerry and not leave it to my H2B incase it doesnt match so im going to make him a wedding survival kit for the day.... things like a hip flask engraved and a bottle of jack daniels, a CD with our favourite music on it, a book on being a groom, some groom boxers, a t-shirt saying something corny like 'Just Married' for honeymoon, some chocolate and a few other bits and bobs i think of between now and then. He will be doing the same back to me so we thought it was something slightly different but still fun xxx

There is no "normal" I dont think in these sorts of cases do you HAVE to get each other a present? NO Its purely up to you hunni if you want to get him a present and vice verser then by all means do but if you dont want to then dont after all you get each other...........what else do you need!!

Its really down to personal choice if you get each other presents. My h2b wants to get me one, but doesn't want me to get him anything. I think it would be quite nice, but will only get him something if I find the perfect thing. xx

you don't have to hunni ... i didn't with my first hubby ... but i have/am with mr lala .... he has already had ,
Antique gold diamond and pearl tie pin cuff links which a sixpences fret cut from the year he was born
he will have on the day of our wedding a solid silver pocket watch and chain ( which ended up costing a fortune as i had to have the main spring re made ,watch serviced and a new key made
Not sure about what present I will get him yet but I will be giving him a snazzy scrap book of all the little things I have kept over the years in a scrap box :-)

We are going on honeymoon 3 days after our wedding and I am paying for a driving experience for him while we are there....so I will put the ticket into a card or something and give it to him. for me.....? I am hinting heavily about a gorgeous ring I have my eye on! But H2B dont do well with hints......I might have to spell it out to him...THATS WHAT I WOULD LIKE PLEASE!

I think hails is right, you dont have to do it. We decided we wanted to, he's ordering my jewellery and I got an extra xmas pressy - private plate based on my married name (aww) so I'm not expecting anything else, I got h2b a beautiful watch which he picked himself but he would never have bought himself. The priest did suggest he buys me something in silver for when we're saying our vows though... cheque in the post to him lol x

I dont think we are going to bother, my jewellery was already a gift from him for my 21st so I will be wearing that but we just kind of see it as a waste of money that could go towards something else. When we were thinking about it I joked around with him and told him that I wanted a puppy! He said he wants a dog too so we are going to get a puppy after the wedding instead of giving gifts to each other :) xxx

its up to you. We are doing gifts and hubby to be already has his (as hes a fussy git and with this amount of money I wasnt going to run the risk) and I brought him a watch. He got my JC for my birthday so he said hes only getting me a small token for the day which is fully understandable but hubby to be had a dear pressie as I think its unfair that the girls get the pretty rings and then men get nothing (other than of course the pleasure of our company). But its up to you.... not all people get each other pressies as weddings are expensive enough

I think for money issues we probably won't have anything much, but I'm planning to write him a little letter for the morning of the wedding, hopefully he'll like that as a surprise - seems a bit old-fashioned in these days of texts etc but there's something nice about getting something handwritten :) (Having said that, he'll probably send me a text saying see you in a bit or something!!)

Im buying my h2b some nice aftershave, shower gel and matching deodrant as a gift so he smells lovely on the day and its something that will remind us of our special day everytime he wears it. He is getting me a surprise gift and wont spill the beans lol x

I've booked a boudoir photo shoot and I'm going to have some of the pics put in an album to give to h2b as a surprise on the day before our wedding. I have about 2st to lose first (which is why I booked for January) but the package includes make up and airbrushing of the pics so will also be a massive confidence boost for me too.

I've finally came up with a gift, H2B wants a Jimi Hendrix tattoo and our friend owns a tattoo parlour. Im gunna get them to do me a voucher for £60 (or whatever it costs for the tattoo) and ask if I can pay for it when we go to have the tattoo done. Hopefully they'll agree to this. They usually give H2B massive discounts. Plus they are invited to the full day of the wedding so hopefully when I explain how Im skint just now, they'll understand. So Im keeping my fingers crossed. Just need to pop in the shop and see them :-)
It means I can get him something that can be a wedding present he'll always have on him :-) AND if I can pay for it after the wedding that will be a huuuuuuggggeee relief. I have £425 to pay out of my wages next month for all the final bits and pieces and that might be all I have left after bills! So having to buy him a present as well is not going to be easy......

i would like to get my h2b a little something, ive written him a poem because tradationally your meant to send a groomscake to the groom, but i cant carry a cake from the uk to austria, so i have wrote a little poem based on the idea that tradtion states to have a cake, but carrying it would of been a mistake. I think i might just end up getting him a box of choccies or some clean pants lol!!!!!

i know just the thing for my h2b a boudoir shoot, my 3 flower girls are going to have a princess bag each full of little things girls like, my paige boy is my son im thinking of getting him the same as the girls but a boys version cars etc, my bmaids are going to all have a necklace, we will give h2b mum a large spray of flowers the best man and usher im not sure yet think ill leave that to h2b x

Unless I give you some back story, you won't understand completely why h2b is getting the gift I have chosen.
When we were just friends and lab partners I filled his pencil case with ice as a joke. It ended up ruining most of his stationary at the time and still (jokingly) says he hasn't forgiven me for it 5/6 yrs later. So his present is a pencil case, similar to the one he had then. Filled with reusable ice cubes and a mont blanc mechanical pencil (to match the pen he already has) and a note saying that I hope we can start married life without old grudges.

I am getting mine some custom designed cufflinks were really cheap too someone who makes them on fb, plus some novelties like socks with a not saying in case you get cold feet and trying to get a silver rolo so I can give him my last rolo and a nice note/letter too not sure what his getting me but hope its not jewellery as my earrings are my something old my bracelet is borrowed and I don't want a necklace with my dress his got no chance bless him lol x
Im getting a photo love book made for my H2B that will tell the story of our relationship and show him how much i love him. He designed and had my wedding jewellery made in Asia so i had that gift early, but im sure he'll get me a little gift.
