im on a budget too - have bought little jam jars from the bay of e and am going to fill them with soil, plant a bulb or seeds and add a tag around the jar! doubles up as place setting then and people can take them home and replant the bulbs! works out at around 50p per favour
CommentAuthorrancidflea
I got a load of small jars from pundland and the other half and I are making jams and chutneys. 85 made for about £40 including labels and material to decorate :)

im planning on giving everybody ank oak tree starter kit; a little compst, a seed, some little instructions that sorta thing. i live in the country side, so i can just collect the seeds straight off the tree, and cause a bag of compost is about £2.99, i think ive got a bloody good deal really :D <3 x

I'm having chocolate eclair sweets in organza bags cheap and cheerful but everybody gets one and it doesn't break the bank :D xx

Our wedding has a slightly fijian feel to it, so we're planning on having mini lei's, like the hawian ones that go round your neck, but have them so they are smaller wrist ones! they will be hand made with a lil tag that says our names and the date! :)

We're not doing favours. I've never received anything at all the weddings I've been to - so just seems like just another expense (money can go towards something else). We'll buy something for Best Man and BM but that's all.
CommentAuthorGemmagem1987
We've not decided yet, think were just going go for some kind of sweet, don't want to be spending loads on them xx

If you are thinking of making something for your favours what about scottish tablet or shortbread. Or something that would go with your theme. I was originally going to make irn brew tablet but ran out of time to make it so bought sweets off ebay instead for my favours. xx

Im using toffee apples and tuying a personalised gift tag round them and a blue ribbon, favour and place card in one.. and I've just read another thread that giving 5 almonds as favours are traditional and symbolise fertility, health etc etc.. so I'm going to be different and give the guests 5 marshmallows.. Im having a firework theme wedding so think it fits perfectly! toffee apples are so cheap too.. asda do them for about 50p each around Halloween and firework night!
All of my dreams come true the day I married you, Mr Walker

really small budget so we are having choc m&m's in pink bag's.
CommentAuthorbride22feb2012
we're not budgeting on favours as nobody really remembers them... instead, we have ordered a bespoke wedding cake that we will have cut and wrapped for everyone to take home - they will be put out on a display table and handed to guests as they leave. i can take the £200 for favours and spend it on my hair and make up then.

spooney24 how do you make irn bru tablet???? Ive never heard of that before?
For the ladies that is giving lottery/scratch cards - id be a bit miffed if they won something big. Its alright if it a couple of pounds but say if it was thousands!!! That would come in handy and would of been a nice way to start off married life

We were going to have cupcakes but at £170 have changed my mind lol So far we have the kids and ladies for £40 (roughly £1 each) but im stuck at what to get the men :-( We have also ordered 100 black personalised ball point pens (100 for £5) to hand out at the evening reception as well, so the evening guests get something too!

Yes Claire that is pretty much it except I found you have to time it right when you put the irn brew in. We got the idea from irn bru fudge we tasted at a shop but found that it was really expensive to buy loads of so I thought I would try making something similiar. Unfortunately you cant get iron brew flavouring for soda stream anymore as this is what usually is best to use rather than bottled iron brew. Also you have to leave the iron brew til the fizz goes out of it or else it burns away in the mixture and you are left with no taste of it in there. Good luck if you do try making it. xx

clarabella; you could always write a nice little nots that says somthing like; "if you win big, remember sharing is caring!"; if they were important enough to you to be at your wedding breakfast then you can probs assume that if they won on a ticket YOU bought, theyd give you some money lolz
i was thinking about doing a scratch card; finding ones online with eharts on or somthing, but then worked out that that could be anywhere from £60 to £300 depending on how mucht he scratch cards are each lolz <3 x
